Connecting with other nominees and hearing about their work was fascinating.

I've just realised that while today is cool (currently), tomorrow will be rough (27 degrees) - and monday hideous (30 ) due to my . For me, the more I attempt when it's too hot, the longer it takes me to recover. So if I'm able to hibernate, I have a rough time during the heatwave - but return to 'my normal' fairly quickly afterwards. If I push myself it can take days - even weeks to get back to my normal.
This means I've just done some re-planning.
I'll be doing more today, so that I can have 2 days where I can hibernate (and probably watch lots of olympics) to reduce the impact of the heat. And because I'll be hibernating for a couple of days, I will also have the muscle-recovery time that should mean, if I get the balance right, there's a good chance that once it cools down again I'll have recovered from the busy day, and will quickly recover from the heat.
(Also, sometimes I feel silly about how often I check the weather forecast. Now I feel justified that it is actually very important information that has a big impact on my decisions, and enables me to manage my health as well as possible. A strangely validating moment)

Image description: Smiling woman holding up a card that reads "severe heat intolerance. When too warm I may become sleepy, confused, or semi-conscious. This can happen in temperatures most people find comfortable. It is not life threatening, just inconvenient. If needed, please help me to somewhere cooler (e.g. outside, near an open window, or fetch an ice bucket or handy snowstorm.) Normal service will resume once I cool down.

‘I was always so proud of my mum, she saves people’s lives.’
This International Paramedic’s Day, hear how Jasmine was inspired by her mum Michelle to join her crew and become a paramedic herself!
Michelle joined the ambulance service in 2009, and despite telling her daughter how tough the job can be, Jasmine knew she didn’t want to do anything else.
Now, they work together as crewmates at West Midlands Ambulance Service.
‘It’s such a rewarding feeling to know that you’ve made a difference, and that people are alive today because of us. And I know I’ve always got the support of my mum and my team’.
Happy International Paramedics Day to both Jasmine and Michelle, and all our paramedics today!
Becoming a paramedic is just one of the 350 rewarding roles available in the NHS. Find your role in the ambulance service at https://www.healthcareers.nhs.uk/explore-roles/ambulance-service-team/roles-ambulance-service

Disabled people rely on a lot of single-use products for survival. Do any of these products surprise you? "Why Single-Use Products Are Necessary?" Disabled people - do you need any single- use products? Can you think of any that aren't on our lists? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
There are different medical views on disabilities, the social model is the most used one in the western- world. It's also the base for many accessibility guidelines. ➡ The social model of disability sees the issues with disabilities as a socially constructed problem. The disability is not an attribute of the individual but a larger complex collection of conditions, many of which are created by cultures and norms. From this view, accessibility can not be achieved just by removing boundaries. Cultural and ideological issues also have to be confronted to fully create an accessible space. #ModelsOfDisability #Disability #DisabilityAwareness #inclusionmatters
Working with Cerebral Palsy
Camille is based in West London and has cerebral palsy and visual impairment. However, she has been determined not to let it limit her, and has worked with several different charities. She is also on the front desk in a voluntary role at the Sands End Arts & Community centre. We recorded this two camera interview and have included subtitling which we checked with her before the final cut.
