⚠️Severe Weather Possible again Today (05/17/2024)

I know many people in Louisiana, especially St. Martin and Lafayette parishes have been affected by the recent storms this week. However, we have another round of severe weather possible tonight into Saturday morning for south-central & eastern Louisiana. The primary threats with these storms will be damaging winds and large hail, although a tornado or two can not be rulled out.

In addition to the severe weather threat, flash flooding will also be possible with these storms. The grounds are already saturated so it makes flash flooding even more easy to occur. Remember that it only takes a few inches of water to sweep up a person or a moving vehicle. Turn around, don't drown.

Many people are out of their normal routines with the recent storms that rolled through so it is important that you stay weather aware and have multiple ways to receive warnings.

Heads Up! Another round of potential severe weather/flash flooding is possible on Thursday. The primary threat is going to be flash flooding given the already saturated grounds.

In severe weather terms, threat looking low but not zero. The strongest of storms may have the possibilty of producing some small hail & damaging winds. Not expecting a high tornado threat with these storms.

Make sure you have a plan in place in the event of severe thunderstorms and/or flash flooding.
