If you were planning to walk and bring donations Sunday to the Coastal Humane Society Walk-A-Thon in the Kelly's St. Patrick's Day Parade here is where to drop off the donations you collected:

The Kelly's St. Patrick's Day parade has been canceled.

Thank you to the many OBX pet families who gathered donations for our Coastal Humane Society Walk-A-Thon at the Kelly's St. Patrick's Day parade. We’re bummed the parade was canceled but totally understand and support the need to protect our community.


If you have donations in hand, there are several options to get them to us:



We plan to be at T-Shirt Whirl on Sunday (March 15) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can stop by and give us your donations, collect your pet bandannas and have your pet family picture taken. We will be set up to accommodate each pet family separately to maintain appropriate social distance. T-Shirt Whirl is located at MP 11.75 on the beach road.

You can drop your donations by Cloud Nine (3022 S. Croatan Hwy, Nags Head) at Pirate’s Quay Shops, MP 11.25 on the by-pass in Nags Head just south of the YMCA. Cloud Nine is open Tuesday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The phone number is 441-2992.

You can call our hotline at 261-7147, send us an email through this website, or message us through our FB page to tell us you have a donation and we’ll make arrangements for a pick-up.

If you are unable to make it to T-Shirt Whirl for the photo on Sunday, feel free to send us a selfie/picture of you, your family and/or dogs dressed up. You can send it to the email address above or post to your page and tag us.

No--I didn't have any particular incumbent or challenger in mind--I wrote a similar piece in 2016 for the Voice. Just some random thoughts on primaries, incumbents, and challengers.
