VICE PRESIDENT CUTTING SOD FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF STORM DRAIN IN EJURA IS AN INSULT TO THE PEOPLE - NDC EJURA-SEKYEDUMASE
Ladies and gentlemen of the media fraternity and the general public,we are aware of the impending visit of H.E the vice president Dr Bawumia to our Municipality slated on the 12th of October, 2020 to cut sod for the construction of a storm drain at Mempeasem in Ejura.
As citizens and not spectators within the Municipality, we take the opportunity to welcome the Vice President to the food basket of the Ashanti Region which is blessed with one of the largest markets in Ghana.
Ladies and gentlemen, for the vice president to drive all the way from Accra to Ejura just to cut sod for the Construction of a storm drain is an INSULT, a complete waste of time and state funds.
Ladies and gentlemen, On the 6th of June 2018, the MCE Hon Mohammed Salisu Bamba and Hon Saddique Boniface the then Zongo Minister, joined the Chiefs, Imams and the good people of Ejura to cut sod for the Construction of this same Mempeasem drains. For over 2years now no construction activity has been witnessed by the good people of Mempeasem. The contractor has disappeared since and excavator meant for dredging also flew over night without a trace. So on what logical ground would the Vice President be assigned to cut sod done by the MCE 2years ago?? We deem this as an INSULT to our conscience.
As if the above Insult is not enough, the MCE Hon Mohammed Salisu Bamba recently called on the Ejurahene, Nana Berima Osei Hwedie ||, the Zango chiefs and Imams, Pastors and the good people of Ejura to witness yet another 419 Sakawa sod cutting for the Construction of Ejura Town Roads and a Mini Stadium. Ladies and gentlemen, it is sad to note that this contractor has also disappeared without a trace after dredging death traps in front of the residence of Ejurahene which has denied him access to his own house and as for the contractor presented to the good people of Ejura to deliver to us a Mini stadium is yet to be seen on site. Beloved, this is a gross disrespect and a biggest insult to these prominent personalities and the good people of the municipality.
Ladies and gentlemen at this point, we conclude that because they(NPP) have nothing significant to show as achievements in the municipality hence they are re- cutting sod for the same project they have failed to execute for the past 2 years.
But before then, Ladies and Gentlemen, the Ejura-Sekyedumase NDC wish to take the opportunity to INFORM and EDUCATE the Vice President and his entourage, as well as the general public of some of the major infrastructural projects and achievements of H.E John Dramani Mahama and the then MCE Hon Muhammad Bawah Braimah popularly known as ADWUMAWURA which helped changed the face of our Municipality without a blessing from even a Regional Minister or necessarily organizing a fun fair sod cutting before their commencement like what we are about to witness from the incompetent NPP government.
Notably among them are :-
• 8km Ejura town roads
• 6km Seko-Anyinasu road
• The almighty Brigade bridge
•Over 25 3&6unit classroom blocks across the municipality.
• 54 communities connected to the national grid
•Drilling of over 68 boreholes
• Modern street lights making Ejura the Dubai along the Kumasi-Yeji highway
• 3 CHPS compounds built at Kyenkyenkura, Hiawoanwu, and Bemi
•Collaborating with the Ejura traditional council to initiate the ongoing establishment and construction of Ejura Nursing Training Colleges
• 33 Primary schools added onto the School Feeding Programme
•Abolishing the killer size 5 makola sack. Etc etc.
Mr Vice President, if proper consultations were done, monies spent on this funfair could have been used to revive the defunct EJURA FARMS which is one of the largest companies in maize production in Ghana. And as a results of that, unemployment rate in the municipality would have reduced drastically.
As citizens, Ejura-Sekyedumase NDC demand answers to the following nagging questions from the Vice President.
1. What has your government done significantly for the good people of Ejura after being voted into power 4years ago knowing very well that Ejura is a business and farming community in Ashanti Region??
2. Mr Vice president what is the guarantee that this new sod cutting would not be another Sakawa sod cutting as in the case of the above listed sod cutting?
3. Mr Vice president can you show to the people of Ejura any loan arrangement approved for the construction of this drains or any financial arrangements in place to ensure start and completion of this drain. It is clear that this project has no page in the 2020 budget and we are unaware of any loan arrangement approved for this critical project and if there is we challenge the vice president to distinguish himself by making it available to the people of Ejura so that we can follow the issues going forward.
4. Mr Vice President, where is our share of the One District One Factory after 4years in power??
5. The market women in Ejura who deals with foreign exchange want to know the true state of the Dollar to the Cedi??
6. Where is our share of the 350 SHS promised by your government??
7. Where is our share of the 1million dollars per Constituency every year??
8. When are we seeing the Dams in our villages??
9. Year of Roads, where are the roads in our municipality??
10. Lastly what is the state of kyenkyenkura road, the Srakyi Akura road and the town roads that the npp government promised when the president was here to commission the IDIW?. We hope the vice president will respond to these concerns of the NDC in Ejura.
