Warmer weather ahead! We're still on target for a warming trend for the upcoming week. Temperatures on Monday are forecast to be near normal, but by Wednesday and Thursday the high temperature will be around 15 degrees above normal. Wet weather enters the picture on Friday, but it's dry until that time.

An upper level disturbance will drop through the area on Sunday morning, and result in more clouds with the chance for flurries or sprinkles in Illinois. Cooler air will also build in. After early morning temperatures in the upper 20s and lower 30s, afternoon highs will reach into the 40s, or about 5 to 10 degrees cooler than Saturday.

Monday will bring our first taste of winter with temperatures only making it into the mid-30s by the afternoon. Gusty winds will make it feel like the mid-20s, so be sure to dress warmer than normal. A few flurries are possible during the morning along and east of the Mississippi River before clearing out by the afternoon. No accumulation is expected.

Monday night will be our coldest yet with temperatures plummeting into the teens.

It is going to be a chilly start to the week. Temperatures will be in the mid-20’s with breezy conditions making it feel like the teens. Much of western MO and eastern KS will warm up to around 40 degrees; however, parts of Central MO will struggle to reach the upper-30s. It will be blustery with winds around 10mph gusting to 20mph.

Cold. That’s what winter brings.

A strong cold front will arrive late Sunday afternoon, kicking off the work week with much cooler temperatures and brisk northerly winds. Expect temperatures in the low 20s already by Monday morning, climbing only into the 30s by the afternoon. To make matters worse, gusty north winds will make it feel even colder. Low temperatures will likely fall all the way into the teens Tuesday morning. It's time to dig out that forgotten winter gear!

Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy today and this weekend. Next week will be an affirmation that it is winter time.

Friday and Saturday will be relatively mild with quiet weather, but a strong storm system will move into the lower Mississippi Valley on Sunday. While most of the rain associated with this system will stay south of the area, there is a chance for rain on Sunday mainly south of I-70. North wind behind this system will draw cold air from Canada south into the Mississippi Valley on Monday. Temperatures around 10 to 15 degrees below normal are expected for Monday and Tuesday.

Moisture may return this weekend - and we need it!

A front will become stalled over the area this weekend. There will be a slight chance rain across the region on Friday afternoon, but rain will become widespread across Missouri and Illinois on Saturday and Sunday. Many areas could receive over an inch of rain by Sunday night.

Several rounds of storms will be possible over the area into the mid afternoon. Most of these will be sub-severe. From mid afternoon through the evening, all modes of severe storms will be possible. Damaging winds in excess of 60 mph will be the primary severe weather risk. In addition, a few tornadoes and hail to the size of golf balls will be possible.
