MUZALA SAMUKONGA SET TO UNDERGO TREATMENT AFTER RECEIVING KWACHA FROM MINISTRY OF SPORTS

Zambian athlete Muzala Samukonga is poised to begin his injury treatment this month, thanks to the financial support received from the Ministry of Sports. The injury was sustained during his last race where he was unable to complete the event on July 14, 2023, in Poland.

In a press statement, Samukonga stated, "On July 31, 2023, at exactly 22:00hrs (CAT), we received the necessary funds for my treatment from the ministry of sports. Now that we have the funds, we will commence the treatment process."

The Adidas Athlete acknowledged the unpredictability of the treatment duration but expressed his hope to participate in the World Athletics, which is scheduled to begin in a few weeks. He said, "Despite not knowing how long the treatment and process will take, I remain optimistic that I will be treated promptly, aiming to get back on track for training before the world championships later this month. Participating in the world championship and proudly representing Zambia has always been my dream, and I am determined not to let it fade away."

As he embarks on his treatment journey, we extend our best wishes to Samukonga and hope for a swift recovery.

The world’s biggest cruise ship is almost ready

A vessel that’s set to be the world’s biggest cruise ship has completed construction at a shipyard in Finland and has made its first foray into open water for sea trials ahead of likely delivery in October this year.

Royal Caribbean International’s Icon of the Seas is a mammoth 365 meters long (nearly 1,200 feet) and will weigh a projected 250,800 tonnes. For comparison, that’s like trying to keep two CN Towers afloat.

When it sets sail on Caribbean waters in January 2024, it will comfortably hold some 5,610 passengers and 2,350 crew. The boat’s piece de resistance will be the world’s largest waterpark at sea. Named Category 6, it’ll feature six record-breaking water slides, but guests who want a more leisurely experience can also relax in the boat’s seven pools and nine whirlpools.

GRANT UNVEILS FULL CHIPOLOPOLO BENCH

The Zambia Men’s National Team coach Avram Grant has unveiled his technical bench that comprises former West Ham and Partizan Belgrade assistant coach Marko Barbul and Chipolopolo legend Moses Sichone as assistant coaches.

South Africa based goalkeeper coach Davies Phiri bounces back as a divers’ trainer while others are video analyst Ohad Efrat with Jamie Lawrence coming in as physical trainer.

Lawrence is a former Premier League star and served as physical trainer for the Jamaica National Team. The former Leicester and Bradford City winger served as physical coach in Ghana during the team’s 2015 AFCON silver winning sojourn.

Team Doctor Wesley Ngongo and physiotherapist Hensley Chilimboyi retain their positions.
The technical bench has gotten down to work with the local assemblage of players in Lusaka.
Barbul worked as interim coach of the Israel National Team while Efat had a stint with Crystal Palace among other engagements.

FAZ acting General Secretary Iva Lengwe says preparations for the March 23 Group H home match against Lesotho are on course.

“We welcome the members of the technical bench, and we have every reason to believe that given their vast experience and solid credentials they will turnaround the fortunes of the Chipolopolo,” says Lengwe.

“Tickets for the match are already on sale across all Shoprite outlets via Computicket. We urge the fans especially the Copperbelt legion to give the Chipolopolo a rousing welcome to Ndola.”

Zambia hosts the Likuena on March 23 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola before squaring off three days later in Johannesburg at Dobsonville Stadium.

Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson) – The Story of the Man who never gave up on his dreams.

Rowan Atkinson was born in a middle-class family and suffered terribly as a child because of his stuttering. He was also teased and bullied at school because of his looks. His bullies thought he looked like an alien. He was soon marked a strange and became a very shy, withdrawn kid who didn’t have many friends, so he dived into science, one of his teachers said. There was nothing outstanding about him. I did not expect him to be a brilliant scientist, but he has proved everyone wrong. Admitted to Oxford University during his days, he started falling in love with acting but couldn’t perform due to his speaking disorder. he got his master’s degree in electrical engineering before appearing in any movie or TV show after getting his degree, he decided to pursue his dream and become an actor so he enrolled in a comedy group but again, his stammering got in the way.

A lot of TV shows rejected him, and he felt devastated but despite the many rejections. He never stopped believing in himself. He had a great passion for making people laugh and knew that he was very good at it. he started focusing more and more on his original comedy sketches and soon realized that he could speak fluently whenever he played some character. he found a way to overcome his stuttering and his also used there is an inspiration for his acting. While studying for his master’s Rowan Atkinson co-created the strange, surreal, and now speaking character known as Mr. Bean.

He had success with other shows, Mr. Bean made him globally famous and despite all the obstacles, he faced because of his looks and his speaking disorder, he proved that even without a heroic body or a Hollywood face, you can become one of the most loved and respected actors in the world. The motivational success story of Rowan Atkinson. It’s so inspiring because it teaches is that to be successful in life, the most important things are passion, hard work, dedication and never giving up, because without caring about our feelings and weaknesses.

Moral of the story:
No one is born perfect. Don’t be afraid. People can accomplish amazing things every day in spite of their weaknesses and failures. So go and do the best you can with the one life you’ve got...

Sevilla keeper fights pitch invader and pins him to the ground until police arrive
There were ugly scenes at the end of PSV Eindhoven's Europa League play-off clash against Sevilla on Thursday evening after a fan invaded the pitch and confronted a player
A pitch invader appeared to attack Sevilla's Marko Dmitrovic

Sevilla's goalkeeper was involved in a sensational altercation with a fan during their game against PSV Eindhoven on Thursday evening.

The incident happened during the final few minutes of their Europa League clash, which Sevilla won 3-2 on aggregate. The pitch invader - believed to be a PSV fan - appeared to throw a punch at Marko Dmitrovic before the Serbian stopper retaliated.

Dmitrovic, 31, pinned the pitch invader to the ground before several Sevilla players - and a couple of PSV stars - rushed over to help the goalkeeper. Stewards belatedly made their way on to the surface to apprehend the pitch invader and calm the situation.

PSV, who are enduring a tricky season in the Eredivisie, knew they had a mountain to climb at the Philips Stadion after the losing the first leg 3-0 in Spain last week. For a while it seemed as if Sevilla were going to ease to victory, but a tense finale changed that.

Luuk de Jong's 77th-minute strike got PSV back into the tie before Fabio Silva made it 3-2 in added time. Yet the hosts could not find an equaliser and tensions boiled over when a pitch invader stormed at Dmitrovic and the chaotic scenes unfolded.

Sevilla or PSV are yet to comment on the matter, but Dmitrovic has spoken to reporters. "He came and pushed me from behind," claimed the goalkeeper.
