Telangana High Court granted bail to Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh.

Goshamahal MLA Rajasingh has been granted bail. He has been in jail for 40 days and has been granted conditional bail by the Telangana High Court. Court advised not to make provocative comments.

Advocate General Bis Prasad told the High Court yesterday that law and order problem is likely to arise if Rajasingh is released from jail. Arguments in the High Court on imposition of PD Act on MLA Rajasingh continued for a long time yesterday. It was explained to the court that Rajasingh had made comments to insult a community, and there are already 101 cases against MLA Rajasingh, of which 18 cases are cases of inciting religious hatred. If Rajasingh comes out at this time, law and order problem will arise. The AG reminded the High Court that a section of people in Hyderabad had protested against Rajasingh's comments in the past. Advocate General Bis Prasad argued that it is right to impose PD Act on MLA Rajasingh.

On the other hand, petitioner's lawyer Ravi Chander argued that MLA Rajasingh was arrested illegally. Rajasingh explained that he did not insult any religion and did not target any religion. It is said that he presented only one play called Child Marriage. Rajasingh made it clear that nowhere did the word Muhammad the Prophet be mentioned. He said that the PD act was registered against Rajasingh with the political party. Ravi Chander told the court that the Nampally court had rejected the remand as invalid and hence the PD Act had been registered by the police.

Controversy over Karnataka CMO’s alleged “cash” gifts to journalists on Diwali has dented Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai’s image, say party insiders.

According to sources, Bommai’s close associates allegedly distributed a box containing sweets and Rs 1-2.50 lakh in cash to senior journalists in the state. Following the incident, the social media is abuzz with memes and reactions trolling the chief minister for bribing the mediapersons.

The social media posts have also targeted journalists branding them as “shameless” and asking them to return the cash.

Disappointed over exclusion from it, some of the journalists highlighted the issue, whereas some of the senior journalists returned the gifts.

Two of the editors have also written to Chief Minister Bommai condemning the act. However, the chief minister claimed that he was unaware of the development. He also called up the editors and apologised, the sources said.

Janadhikara Sangharsha Parishat organisation has filed a complaint with the Lokayukta against CMO for trying to bribe journalists.

Meanwhile, opposition party Congress has targetted ruling BJP over the issue and demanded a probe into it.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday produced an audio clip of an alleged BJP man purportedly discussing the party’s bid to poach AAP MLAs in the capital and demanded Home Minister Amit Shah’s arrest if he was involved in the matter.

The senior AAP leader played the audio tape at a press conference and said the BJP “dalal” (broker) heard in the clip was one of the three people arrested in Telangana over an alleged bid to poach that state’s ruling party Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLAs.

There was no immediate reaction from the BJP or Shah.

“In this audio, the BJP’s dalal (broker) can be heard luring a (TRS) MLA to the BJP, saying they were also trying to poach 43 Delhi MLAs and that money had been kept aside for this purpose. He is also saying that he has spoken with Shah and BL Santosh,” Sisodia said.

“If it is Home Minister Amit Shah the BJP’s dalal is referring to, he should immediately be arrested and questioned,” the Delhi deputy chief minister demanded.

He said the audio tape was a “proof” of the BJP’s failed attempt to poach AAP MLAs in Delhi and Punjab and demanded a probe by the Enforcement Directorate into the matter.

“It is very dangerous for a country if its home minister is involved in such a conspiracy,” Sisodia said.

29/10/2022

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has given a specific assurance that the five per cent GST on handloom products would be scrapped, said party MP Uttam Kumar Reddy.

The former TPCC chief said that the BJP government at the Centre had imposed the GST on handloom products including khadi handloom, handicrafts, mats, pots and ploughs, from July 1, 2017. He said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao was among the first to ratify the GST Act in the Assembly.

He said Rahul Gandhi had been apprised of the neglect of the primary handloom weavers' cooperative societies (PHWCS), which play a crucial role in the development of the handloom industry. Elections had not been held for three years to the societies, he said.

Rahul Gandhi, who entered Mahbubnagar district during the day, said that people had been experiencing 'raja' rule (monarchy) than democracy, as Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was ruling on his whims and fancies. Rao had ignored the development of the state and was trying to fleece the people, he said,

Speaking at the Manyamkonda temple arch to conclude his padayatra for the day, during which he had walked around 20 km, Rahul Gandhi said the Chief Minister was getting details of every land transaction through the Dharani portal.

The ruling party leaders had their eyes on the land of the people, he said. The government was trying to take back 25 lakh acres that previous Congress government had assigned to SC and ST families.

He assured that Forest Lands Act would be implemented after the Congress came to power. "We will settle the land issues of tribals and others", he said.

TPCC political affairs committee convener Mohammad Ali Shabbir said that TRS and BJP leaders played 'drama' of buying of MLAs. Both the parties decided to divert the attention of people from Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra, but failed.

Accompanied by people of different walks of life, representatives from organisations and elected representatives of various states, Rahul Gandhi entered Mahbubnagar district from Narayanapet on the 51st day of his Kanyakumari-to-Kashmir padayatra.

The Telangana police on Friday challenged in the High Court, the ACB court’s rejection of its remand application and release of three persons accused of allegedly offering bribes to four TRS MLAs.

The police, represented by DCP Shamshabad, requested the High Court to direct the accused persons- Ramachandra Bharati, Kore Nandu Kumar and D.P.S.K.V.N. Simhayaji — to surrender before the ACB court at Hyderabad, to enable it to accept the remand and send the accused to judicial custody.

Justice Chillakur Sumalatha heard the petition and adjourned the case to Saturday to hear the accused. She said that no further time will be given and the case will be disposed of on Saturday.

She directed the accused not to leave the city for the next 24 hours and that they should furnish their residential addresses to the Cyberabad police commissioner by 6 pm on Friday. The judge said that the three would not contact the de-facto complainant, Tandur MLA P. Rohit Reddy, or try to influence the witnesses.

Advocate-General B.S. Prasad, representing the police, said the ACB court had erred in considering the case. It dealt with the offer of bribes to MLAs, who are public servants, he said.

There was a conspiracy by the accused and criminal intimidation to destabilise the state government, Prasad said.

He said the MLAs were threatened with raids by central agencies. It was a case for punishment of up to seven years under Prevention of Corruption Act.

He submitted a remand copy, which included photocopies of SMS and Whatsapp messages which were sent and received by the accused to third persons.

Justice Sumalatha asked him whether the episode at the farmhouse was a trap or it was incidental. The judge also inquired about spy cameras and other electronic devices arranged in the farmhouse.

In the report, the police said that the gadgets had captured around three-and-a-half hours of conversation of four TRS MLAs with the accused.

Vedula Srinivas, representing the accused, argued that as per Supreme Court guidelines, notices were mandatory before any arrest. He said that as the police had not seized any money, it would not come under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy on Friday inspected the arrangements for public meeting to be addressed by the TRS party president and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao at Bangarigadda slated to be held on Sunday. Jagadish Reddy made several suggestions to the party leaders, who were supervising the arrangements, to setup separate galleries for VIPs and women. He also examined the place where main dais would be setup at the venue of the public meeting.

Speaking to the media, he said that large number of people would be mobilized to the public meeting from all villages of Munugode assembly constituency. He said that the four TRS MLAs succeeded in exposing the BJP’s efforts to purchase them by offering huge amounts of money. He said that the Chief Minister had no need to respond to the challenge of BJP state president Bandi Sanjay to take oath at Yadadri Sri Lakshminarsimha Swamy temple. Reminding that audio recordings of telephone conversation between TRS MLA Rohith Reddy and Ramachandra Bharathi were out, he questioned whether Sanjay would bring the union Home Minister Amit Shah to take oath at Yadadri temple in the matter.

A video of women staff members of the government maternity hospital in Hanamkonda drinking liquor on the hospital premises, captured by relatives of a patient, went viral on social media platforms on Thursday.

While the higher authorities of the hospital warned those involved of a suspension in the event of a repeat of such activities, relatives of patients demanded stricter action against them.

Patients and their attenders alleged that the staff, instead of being alert round-the-clock, were celebrating birthdays and consuming liquor in parties hosted on the premises, due to which they were unable to perform their duties.

Those involved include a GNM, an Aarogyasri worker, a staff nurse and two outsiders.

It is to be noted that the Hanamkonda hospital is a key health centre as it caters to patients from neighbouring districts and states as well. Thousands visit the hospital every day.

The public alleged laxity on part of higher officials, saying that despite the presence of several government officials’ offices near the hospital, there was hardly any supervision.

“After consuming liquor how they will render their services to patients? Officials must take immediate action against the hospital staff members who neglected their duties and had a party in the hospital,” a patient attender said.

The hospital was sealed last week after a preliminary enquiry revealed lapses on the part of its authorities. There are no patients in the hospital anymore.

The hospital authorities did not reply to the earlier notices in this regard and a demolition order was passed earlier this year, the notice said.

The family of the 32-year-old dengue patient had alleged that the hospital supplied sweet lime (mosambi) juice in a bag marked ‘plasma’. The patient’s health deteriorated after transfusion from the bag and he died after he was shifted to another hospital, his relatives alleged.

They claimed the doctors at the second hospital told them that the disputed platelet bag contained a mix of chemicals and something sweet like mosambi juice.

But a medical report on whether the dispute platelet bag contained juice has not been made public.

The patient’s family had also demanded strict action against the hospital staff.

The Prayagraj police later busted a gang that supplied ‘fake platelets’ and arrested 10 men. They used to take plasma from blood banks and repackage them as platelets (both components of the blood), police had said.

The AICC issued a show cause notice to party MP from Telangana Komatireddy Venkat Reddy after a voice recording in which he allegedly sought support for his brother, who is the BJP candidate in the Munugode Assembly bypoll, has gone viral.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Tariq Anwar, in the notice dated October 22, sought a reply from Venkat Reddy within 10 days as to why disciplinary action should not be taken against him as per the provisions of the party Constitution.

“Manickam Tagore, MP, in-charge Telangana, has brought to the notice of the Disciplinary Action Committee (DAC) that a voice recording is being heard with you insisting on Shri Jabbar Bhai, a Congress leader to support the BJP candidate for the Munugode assembly byelection on the 3rd November, 2022 who happens to be your sibling against the Congress candidate Palvai Sravanthi,” Anwar said in the notice that was shared with the media here on Sunday.

The voice recording has gone viral on social media and prominent electronic and print media as well, said Anwar, Member Secretary of DAC, adding, “prima facie, it is an act of breach of party discipline.”

The bypoll in Munugode has been necessitated as sitting Congress MLA Komatireddy Raj Gopal Reddy, younger brother of Venkat Reddy, had quit and joined the BJP.

Venkat Reddy is the incumbent Congress Lok Sabha member from Bhongir.
There has been intense speculation whether Venkat Reddy would campaign against his brother and in support of the Congress candidate in the bypoll scheduled to be held on November 3.

Counting of votes would be taken up on November 6.

Hyderabad Police have busted another Hawala racket and seized Rs 63.50 lakh cash.
Police on Sunday said five persons were arrested for running Hawala racket from the electrical godown of ‘Ranuja Marketing’ at Troop Bazar.

Acting on credible information, the Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone, arrested five persons, seized the cash, a two-wheeler, five mobile phones and a cash counting machine.

Kanti Lal (39), owner of the godown, Kishore Singh (42), Pep Singh (47), Mohammed Abdul Fareed (38) and Sandeep Singh (31) were arrested.

The raid was conducted when Hawala money was being collected and distributed. The accused were found in possession of unaccounted money.

This is the latest in a series of Hawala rackets busted in the city during the last few days. Police have seized about Rs 10 crore cash in separate operations.

The cash was seized during heightened vigil by the police in view of by-election to the Munugode Assembly seat in neighbouring Nalgonda district on November 3.

On October 20, police had seized over Rs 1.10 crore cash from four persons. The cash was seized from a car during vehicle checking in the Shainayathgunj police station limits. Police arrested Kamlesh Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Rahul Agarwal and Ratan Singh.

According to police, the main accused Kamlesh Kumar started running a hawala business with others as he was not getting enough profits in the plastic bag business.

On October 10, unaccounted cash worth Rs 3.5 crore that was reportedly being transported to Munugode was seized. Six persons travelling in two cars with the cash were apprehended by the Commissioner’s Task Force team.

On October 7, police seized Rs 79.25 lakh and arrested four people, including two Uttar Pradesh natives, under suspicious circumstances during a vehicle checking drive in the limits of Chandrayangutta police station.

Earlier on September 29, a Meerut-based scrap dealer was caught in Hyderabad with Rs 1.24 crore cash. He had told the police that he collected the cash on the instructions of his uncle and was to deliver it to four persons living in the city.

Finding fault with the Election Commission of India (ECI) for transferring the Munugode Returning Officer over deletion of a symbol, TRS working president KT Rama Rao wanted action to be taken against the Election Commissioner.

In March 2011, the ECI through a notification had deleted the road roller symbol from the list of free symbols. However, the symbol featured in the list of free symbols again in the Munugode by-poll. During the 2019 parliamentary elections in Bhongir, TRS lost by a margin of about 5,000 votes with the candidate who had the road roller symbol walking off with 29,000 votes.
