It's Traffic Tip Tuesday, and today's traffic tips come straight from Tivy HS School Resource Officer, Justin Gonzales:

Obey school zone speed limit signs.
Put away your cell phone; it's never okay to be on your phone when driving, but especially so in an active school zone.
Drop off and pick up children in the designated areas, and when dropping off or picking up, exercise courtesy and patience.
Watch for children running between vehicles.
Kids are unpredictable, so drivers must take precautions in and around school zones.

Let's make sure we are all doing our part to keep our young people safe!

I would like to, once again, thank Somer Tinsley, and her amazing team for the generosity they have been showing our children at the shelter.  For the last three years, they have come together and personally picked out beautiful outfits and shoes for our children’s first day of school. What an amazing group of people! With all of them having very little free time of their own, they manage to stop their busy lives and show a lot of love for the children that we care for.  Thank you Somer Tinsley, and thank you to the amazing group of folks on your team.

Not really hidden, but definitely a gem here at Mo-Ranch is our Chapel! The Chapel features beautiful stained glass windows crafted in France in the 1840s. The iron work in and around the Chapel was done by a local Kerrville artisan, Erich Riesel.

School is right around the corner, and we are sharing more safety reminders! Here are some tips for children walking or biking to school:

• Always use sidewalks. If there’s not a sidewalk, walk on the left side of the street facing traffic.
• Cross the street at intersections or marked crosswalks. Look left, right and left again before proceeding.
• Always obey crossing guards.
• Make eye contact with drivers before crossing the street. Never assume a driver sees you.
• Look for traffic when stepping off a bus or from behind parked vehicles.
• Always wear a helmet when riding a bicycle.
• Don’t be distracted by electronic devices that take your eyes and ears off the road.
• Follow all traffic rules, signs and signals.
