When it comes to milk there’s a lot of conflicting info. Here are 10 facts:

️⃣ Milk is accounts for 20% of all child food allergies but most kids outgrow it by age 6.

️⃣ Lactose intolerance is uncommon in babies though it tends to become more prevalent as children grow older, affecting 70% of the world’s population.
️⃣ Too much milk can put a child at risk of iron deficiency anemia. For a guide on how much milk a child can have, see our Milk page in our free food database.
️⃣ Aim to buy milk fortified with vitamin-D as this important nutrient is only available in a few foods.
️⃣ Milk from pasture-raised cows has been shown to be higher in omega 3 fats than milk from cows raised on grain.
️⃣ Your child doesn’t have to drink cow milk at all. Pediatricians love milk because of its nutritional value but if the child gets adequate protein, fat, calcium, zinc, and vit. B12 and D, it’s optional.
️⃣ Almond milk isn’t great for toddlers as it is low in fat, calories and protein—critical nutrients growing children need.
