(TL;DR - We love you guys and many new, cinematic, full-force projects are in development for 2023.)
For those who care:
Not sure how many are still around to read this, but here goes:
Hi guys, this is Casey Schoch. As many of you know, I'm the one who's run the Youtube channels since 2006.
I'm the only one on the team who works in the film industry. I've been very busy chasing my profession and passion since I was 16, filmmaking. I've been working the last 6 years as a full time 1st AC (focus puller and camera tech) in Los Angeles working on projects from large scale Youtube channels like Jubilee, to music videos and live performance videos which have been featured on Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert and The View, commercials for Nikon, Bose, Segway, Square, etc, independent feature films, and docs on different major streaming services.
There are so many of you I appreciate beyond words, some of you who are ones who have been following us for 15+ years since the Apraschoch days when I first started making short comedy films on Youtube when I was 16 (I'm 31 now). I would like each of you to know, (regardless of our inactivity the last several years) the level of how much I've appreciated every comment since I first started shooting/uploading in January 2007 from our old Apraschoch Productions channel and, of course, on the Insanity On A Bun channel. We always had a small tight-knit group watching our shorts and I loved waking up the next morning after a midnight upload to see the few comments of you guys enjoying the shorts. It always made my day. I know my brother Wes and lifelong friends Jacob, Lucas, Justin and Aaron (Gigatitan on Youtube) have always appreciated you all wholeheartedly, too.
The last year has been really hard, Wes and I lost our dad to ALS. He's been in several of our shorts, such as Dino Chickens, S'More Trouble than it's Worth, and Casey's Abduction. He always supported Wes and I in our filmmaking endeavors. In 2015, the team split up to pursue the fields they work in. Wes, Justin and Aaron live in Elk Grove, CA. I live in Los Angeles, CA. Jacob lives in Virginia. Lucas lives in Oregon. Regardless of how spread out we were, all the guys from the channel were there with Wes and I in Elk Grove to help us through the funeral and everything. I know we haven't shot anything in a while, but I wanted you guys to know that we are all still SS-Tier friends (as our group chat is named lol, we've all been Fire Emblem fans since 2003.) They are the best guys ever. Wes and I worked as hard as we could to make a documentary on my dad's life, and it's currently still in post production. I'm not entirely sure when and where I'll release that, possibly the second channel, but I will let those who are interested know if they'd like to see it.
After shooting that and remembering how much I love directing/shooting/editing, I've had a longing in my heart, to continue Youtube. I’ll still be working as a 1st AC, but all my downtime is going to be dedicated to this now. i've had a lot of professional experience the last several years working with insanely talented DP's, gaffers, directors and so many others on highly professional film sets to make me realize I want to apply this knowledge to go full-fledged back into Youtube.
I'm currently working on 16 separate shorts, which Wes and I are going to start whittling away at this month and charge up for our release dates in 2023. The other guys aren't around to shoot most of the time, and we will start introducing other characters into the shorts, although Jacob, Lucas, Aaron and Justin will appear again at some point when they're in town/want to. Wes, our mom Jolyn, and I (Casey, to those who've forgotten) will continue to star in most of the shorts. 2023 is the current goal for the start of uploads and genuine consistency. Wes and I will be heading up shooting from now on, while the other guys are totally welcome to join when they want and are in town.
Another big deal, I (Casey) will be changing the channel name when we begin the renaissance (hahaha) of this channel. It will be licensed as a business and be trademarked, so it'll be legit.
Do not worry though, the main focus of this channel (and my greatest love and passion) will still be comedy/action/suspense short films. There may be occasions where we deviate, but nothing about our core style will change, except for the upscale in professionalism.
We love you guys and hope you'll be around for the rebirth of this channel in 2023!
Another shoutout to the ones on Youtube who always commented most on our channel, we have always appreciated you so much! Thank you Vis Mayhem! Thank you The Gamers State! Thank you Hermosilla32! Thank you QW8aura! Thank you BoltSpeedGamer! Thank you Linkswolfform! Thank you Raymond Zhao! And so many others!
Your comments have always made the 100+ hours per video worth all the effort, and I want to let you all know, I'm giving it my all in this comeback of the channel! Stay tuned and thank you for your patience!
