Soooo. I have to my dismay I’m self isolating (no symptoms yet) 😬😬😬 in a hotel room with no kitchen, fridge or microwave. Although I am very grateful for this room please do not misunderstand!! (And grateful to my lovely friends and colleagues who are offering to drop me food off ❤️).
I am lucky enough to still be working 🏨 throughout this difficult time giving me somewhat of a routine and financial security which many others don’t have. (Well except now that I am isolating.)
Anyway...now that I am, I vow for it to be ‘alive time not dead time.’📚📝📈
Newton laid the groundwork for his theories on calculus 🧮 and the laws of motion when quarantining during The Great Plague. He also stuck a blunt needle in his eye for the craic...nah it was actually to further his understand of optics. Good man yourself!!
Now if you’re Netflixing 📺 your way through this, that’s completely ok of course but I’m just saying this to give you a little motivation 💪🏾...if you want it. Remember when you always used to say when working your full time job ‘I don’t have time for zipiddy do dah’, well now you do. We all have the same number of hours in the day as Bill Gates and Josh Waitzkin, it’s just how you choose to spend that time 🕟 that makes the outcome different.

As the NHS is working it's bo****ks off I want to also ensure people know that social care is also doing an incredible job for society at the moment. As part of my role as a therapist I am trying to get my patients (some confirmed, some suspected and some without) out of hospital as quickly (and safely) as possible to protect those patients from COVID, to prevent the spread of it and ensure there are enough beds in hospital as the exponential rise in cases continues. Because of this, social care are having to work extra hard and fast in order to help us expedite discharges. So let's give it up for social care workers too. Gwarn your good selves!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

For years I have been saying 'What the world needs is for someone to feign an alien invasion because nothing unites people 🤝 like a common enemy. Other humans won't seem so scary if there are aliens 👽👾 to contend with.'

Try to be kinder and less judgemental. Often people pass judgement due to lack of understanding of others and why they are the way they are but also to make their own selves feel superior.
Just remember you would be doing what they're doing if you had their DNA and conditioning.

Oh f**kkkk not another grateful post on your feed!!? 😩😩😩...well yep yep here it is because I am a clinician and I am one for evidence based practice. Practising gratefulness everyday is shown to have positive benefits upon one's mental health if done consistently and I think we need all the help we can get right about now. So here is issss. 👇
1.That I have job security 🙏
2. That the skills I have and my job role are one of the most valuable skill sets in the world right now because nothing else really matters if you don't have your health does it...🏨
3. The solidarity of the human race right now 👫💙🌍
4. I see lots of people helping, when things are bad always look out for the helpers.🤝
5. Spring is here and the weather is so beautiful 🌞🌷
6. My family, my boyfriend, my dog and my friends are all currently healthy even though some of them have had 'it' 👫👨‍👩‍👦‍👦👯‍♂️🐶
7. My NHS colleagues, we got this 💪
8. My boyfriend 😍👨🏾‍⚕️❤️ (he will gag at this) but credit where credit it due.
9. Pretty much 0 traffic getting to work 🙌 and more importantly a significant reduction in pollution worldwide ♻️

Don't do this!!!!!!! 👆
I have actually been sleeping a lot better recently due to prioritising sleep. 🤗😴 Other things have fallen by the wayside but that's ok because optimal sleep is arguably the most important good habit to have as it underpins all other good habits. You can execute all the other good stuff; exercise, healthy eating, work, hobbies, meditation, yada yada if y'all get good sleep. 🛌
Once you do you give yourself a better chance of those intrusive thoughts reducing because things are falling into place.
Tbh my poor sleep wasn't really to do with anxiety or overthinking, I wouldn't say I am an anxious person, mine was more to do with bad and out of sync habits. There are different reasons for different people.

(N.B this is inspired by Marcus Aurelius, Emperor of Roman Empire 161-180 AD) deemed the last off the 5 Good Emperors, a stoic philosopher and the old guy that got murdered by Joaquin Phoenix at the start of Gladiator (fu***ng great film).
I am a frequent sayer of 'out of challenge usually comes some good'. Albeit this is massively dependent upon one's own reaction to the challenge. Whether it be a break up, a death, a betrayal or even those many, many random variables that make our pursuit of the things we want, so much harder...you know when a chinchilla (not native to your country) comes and steals your car keys on the way to the surprise party you have been arranging for months and it all turns to s**t...
The kind of performance we give on social media is positive. It's a 'let me tell you how great things are going as opposed to the truth'...guilty. But behind all those graduation, honeymoon, Iron Man, new born baby photos are tears, struggle and fear. I'm not saying they're not worth having but they do all come at a price. Pretty much everything worth having does.

The luck of the Irish ☘️

To be lucky is to have a mindful awareness and be open to opportunities around us. There are infinite possibilities at every moment in life that we usually fail to see because we are a slave to our own limiting thoughts guided by biases & expectations. We only see what we expect to see. Expect to be lucky and you will get lucky! Expect negative things and you will encounter negative things. Unfortunately there is an evolutionary bias towards us humans focussing on the negative. It is an evolutionary trait that aided our survival. Yet this negativity is now overwhelming us and is costing us opportunities in modern society.
A ten year study on luck was conducted by Prof of Psychology-Richard Wiseman. His research concluded lucky people posses 4 traits which he calls
🍀The 4 Principles of Luck🍀
🍀 Maximise chance opportunities and be mindful of them around you. Notice, create and act upon chances.

🍀 Turn bad luck into good. Lucky people see the positives in any situation.

🍀 Pay attention to lucky hunches. Be mindful of what you feel in your gut.

🍀 Expect good fortune🥇- Self fulfilling prophecy

Often crises are personal; love, work, family. Then there are times when crises are national or global and a sense of fear is the most contagious of all feelings. I mean we humans revel in fear hey?! 😳 (There is a survival advantage to this albeit but it's rather inconvenient for our modern day society where fear is chronic.)
Maintaining a sense of calm during a crisis is usually harder than ever yet this is the time when it is needed the most.
Do what you need to keep a sense of calm and control. Ensure you engage in prophylactic practises (exercise, meditation, yoga, video games, ma********on whatever helps thee) before, not when s**t hits the fan...ya get me. Investing the time before will save time and stress in the long run. As they say 'the more you sweat in peace the less you bleed in war'.
Be sensible, be calm...that will help you more than fear and panic as both of those emotions will not change the outcome for the better but likely increases the risk of changing the outcome for the worse.
