Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari’s announcement for the BKSS 6.0 has reaffirmed my belief that GPS is and will continue to be the Government of choice for the people of Sarawak.

Just from the fact that the GPS is doling out critical financial and institutional support for the people for the SIXTH consecutive time…the sixth time since the Pandemic has plagued our people is testament of the care and sensitivity of the government towards it’s constituents.

Honestly to list out every little detail of the over 1.5 billion ringgit stimulus package will make this article just too long to read and seem like a butt kissing exercise so I’m only going to touch on a few of them just to make my point.

We can see from it that Sarawak is again showing the way for the rest of Malaysia especially with the assistance to out of work people from the tourism industry, the gig economy and now with the introduction of the one off RM1500 assistance it also includes thousands of petty traders and stall holders.

Judging from the buzz on social media, naysayers a year and a half ago are now helpful agents promoting and explaining the announcements and helping their friends and relatives apply for the said assistance.

I personally see it with the food basket aid campaign where we find it much easier to enlist volunteers and in fact we even see more New people coming forward to request aid either themselves, their neighbours and or friends who missed out the last time because of the poison the opposition had made them believe the last time.

While the opposition Pakatan Harapan states struggle with helping their people and rely overly on the federal government here in Sarawak our people are showing off proudly that they will be receiving the aid not once, not twice but for the sixth time in a row.

Apart from the food aid Sarawakians are also a buzz with the GPS government chipping in to buy extra needed vaccines to further the vaccination campaign that is ongoing.

The feel-good factor created is really helping the people cope with the fact that the pandemic is worsening and gives the people the confidence that the GPS government will not stop assisting the people no matter how long it may take for the pandemic to be brought to its knees.

Until then, these GPS style people-centric (Sarawak First!) policies will be our assurance that we are in good hands come what may, and we can rely on the GPS government to deliver us to the promised land.

Thank you and congratulations to Abang Jo and his team for the absolutely great work you are doing for us all and to the Pakatan Harapan led opposition….eat your hearts out!
