I'm closing the fundraiser for A New Ulster I would like to thank those who donated and while we didn't reach our goal I can at least replace the hard drive

26/05/2024

We have used PEECHO for over 11 years for the hardcopy edition of A New Ulster, since Brexit though I've seen their prices go up several times and I've tried to keep the cost as low as possible meaning the cost on the magazine covers their printing costs alone, I've now seen how much their postage has increased and with the recent merger with a US company I'm giving serious thought to finding an alternative means of publishing the hard copy edition

19/05/2024

Thank you to everyone who has donated towards A New Ulster it isn't easy being an independent publisher especially one who publishes monthly.

I need to raise £280 for replacement equipment so as to keep A New Ulster operating. I cannot get a grant as I was in receipt of on last year for the book I worked on and that was all accounted for. It won't be until next year before I can apply again and even then there's no guarantee of support due in large part to the reduction in Arts funding here and the number of people and causes applying.

The May edition of A New Ulster will be out soon just putting some finishing details on it. I've hospital tomorrow for the HHT and hopefully that will be the last one of this year. My condition hasn't been to bad.

Our printer has died as has the hard drive for the A New Ulster computer so I'm using an older machine for working on both A New Ulster and Lapwing Publications.

Somehow I've ended up in a fulltime unpaid internship in publishing I love the work I'm doing and I think we're one of the few monthly poetry and prose outlets still running.

If anyone wants to help us out so I can continue to produce A New Ulster. Please consider making a donation either by out Ko Fi or Paypal links.

They really don't make computers like they used to do they? We had three power failures yesterday due to the weather and now the ANU hard drive has kicked the bucket, I'm going to have to do a fundraiser to generate some form of funds to replace components

Hi folks, a number of people have been in touch as they have received an email that claims to be from me there is one thing though it isn't. Paul sent me a copy and you can see the cyrrillic lettering as well as a very faint extra letter after my name. It would seem that those of us who send electronic data to the British Library service may have been included in the recent data breach, my email is still secure but there's a clone account if you get an email from "me" with the heading sad news or here's the photos don't accept it just delete it

Dennis Greig, who has died aged 76, was a poet and the editor of Lapwing Publications, a luminary poetry press in Belfast, for more than 30 years. At first glance, Dennis looked like a cross between an ancient bard and a heavy-metal guitarist. After a little acquaintance he became an even more visio...

My father Dennis Greig founder of Lapwing Publications has passed away I am lost

24/12/2023

Dad has been moved from Critical to Cardiology Ward 5 D. I've spoken to him, his doctor and the nurse treating him, he's no longer on a ventilator and is getting oxygen by facemask instead, he's wired up with more cables than I've ever seen but he's able to have short conversations, they are going to operate to remove the pressure on his heart caused by the fluid in his lungs and have him on a mix of treatments. The doctor is cautiously optimistic which is a change from two days ago. To all those who have prayed for my father, or wished us well thank you we appreciate it

21/12/2023

Apologies for the lack of any updates there have been issues with internet connectivity which have finally been resolved and a number of health issues speaking of which. On this Solstice Trish is having surgery to remove a mass on her Thyroid, Mum and Dad have been diagnosed with a new strain of Covid and have Bacterial Pneumonia as well both are on a heavy does of antivirals, Steroids and antibiotics, Louis also has Covid but he's doing a lot better and Malcolm is still in hospital

02/11/2023

My brother is still in hospital, he's responding to treatment but it may take years before he ever recovers, dad is home, the stress has been unbearable, I'm working to get the next issue out for Monday. We're skint though so it may be difficult to get everything done
