The Arcadia Group one of Britain's largest retail businesses faces collapse. Arcadia comprises of brands like Topman, Topshop Evans etc faces administration with 13000 staff uncertain about their future.

Mike Ashley owner and CEO of Frasersgroup Plc a company he saved back in 2016 has offered a £50m lifeline to keep arcadia afloat despite there being a tussle in regards to who owns TopShop. Boohoo the online clothing giant is rumoured to be stepping in to acquire Topshop. TopShop as a brand generates the most income for the group and stand to potentially be the only business standing within Arcadia if voluntary administration takes place.

NewsSpot can see it and this quote from Lord Rose on the BBC radio 4 today show in relation to the transition to a more convenient retailing: "not moved from an analogue world to a digital world fast enough". With companies like Boohoo, Pretty little thing, Asos and other highstreet retailers like Zara investing in digital to stay current. Amazon also presenting itself as a platform for clothing. Arcadia has fallen behind in this regard and combined with the sexual harassment scandals in recent years causing BEYONCÉ to pull her Ivy Park clothing line; this has heralded a dip in sales. To quote Lord Rose again: "if you don't stay current, you just die".

Where do you shop for clothing and would you miss the Arcadia group?

Eddie Shepherd the CEO of Clintons cards has went on the record to state that it is "grossly unfair" that supermarkets can sell greetings cards during lockdown when he has to close shops.

Amazon and other online based services have been able to distribute. This calls into question the 'legacy' style shopping system for the likes of greetings cards. 2020 has proven difficult for businesses to pivot as uncertainty in regards to restrictions has been ever present.

Clintons derive a great deal of their revenue from their stores and like other businesses have been hit hard by restrictions. With 270 shops he expects 20% lower than usual sales come December.
