It's my birthday and I just finished crying.
Truth be told...no one likes crying; it's basically an unwritten fact of life.
And we've been told at a young age that crying equates to weakness, which is why we see so many people struggle when trying to deal with their emotions. But I'll share with you a few reasons why crying is good for your soul;
1. It's a physical manifestation of pain, it's a lot more efficient at relieving stress than complaining and its the ultimate way to let things go.
2. It reminds you that you're alive. If you've never cried, you've never felt strongly about something.
3. You can't experience joy, if you've never experienced pain. If you can't cry, you can't grow.
4. The most important feelings you have, makes you cry. It's humbling and it makes you have empathy.
5. It resets your emotional meter, unclouds your vision and reminds you of what's important in your life.
6. It means you have depth. It also means you value your life and it reminds YOU that you're not a robot.
7. It's not always associated with sadness; but it freshens up your mind, body and soul and makes you look inwards.
8. It forces you to confront all of the emotions you've been trying to suppress and it helps to lower that boiling blood pressure.
9. It releases toxins from your body and it helps you see clearly. It's genuinely healthy and it brings you back in tune with yourself.
10. It's a lot healthier to let your emotions out this way than to take them out on a loved one.
11. It teaches you not to bottle things up. Those who you can cry with, are your deepest connections.
People don't want to admit when they've reached their breaking point and, even further, when they need help.
But as the year unfolds and the stress that that the world brings on a constant basis starts to get to you, take some time out to let it all out -before your Maker. And after you're done, inspiration will come.
Those who sow in tears will no doubt return with songs of rejoicing.
