The lesson is that people have long memories when it comes to mistakes....

This is a rare but important lesson: brand damage can come just as much from too successful a promotion as it can anything else. Of course the PR tail should not wag the dog but asking the simple question: “what happens if this goes way bigger than we expect?” would have shielded the Build A Bear reputation and may even have led to better operational preparation and ex*****on....

The plan ended up backfiring.
