Christmas is coming, and so is HONG KONG MODERN Architecture of the 1950s-1970s: The Game!
This easy-to-play matching card game features the architecture of 32 selected buildings on 64 full-color cards. It comes with a poster with a b/w image of each of the buildings, and information about their location, architects, year of completion and background. Thanks to Trust Hong Kong for the kind support!
The game is available at Lotus Gallery, @序言書室 Hong Kong Reader Bookstore, @渡日書店 to-day bookstore and all HK branches from December 17. Come and get yours!

I am happy to announce that the new publication "HONG KONG MODERN Architecture of the 1950s-1970s" is just hot from the printing press and now for sale in Hong Kong at Lotus Gallery, 28 Pound Lane, Sheung Wan; , 10 Salisbury Road, TST; and branches at IFC, Prince’s Building and Lyndhurst Terrace, with more bookshops coming up soon... 😀

Co-published by Apsara Books, Hong Kong and Dom Publishers, Berlin, the new publication "HONG KONG MODERN Architecture of the 1950s-1970s" is just hot from the printing press and will be presented online on February 10, 2022 in combination with a discussion panel organized by Docomomo Hong Kong. Please register on the webpage of the Goethe-Institut Hongkong (https://www.goethe.de/ins/cn/en/sta/hon/ver.cfm?event_id=22623717).

With more than 300 buildings and ensembles documented, the photo book gives a comprehensive overview on the architecture of that transformative period in combining full-page photographs with detailed background information and further b/w images explaining and illustrating the design and history of these buildings. Information about the architects behind the projects and a series of academic essays penned by renowned scholars Cecilia L. CHU, Eunice SENG, Ying ZHOU, and Charles LAI complement the publication.

The book was supported by -Institut Hongkong, Trust Seed Grant, and Hong Kong. Its size is 245x245mm, with 448 pages and 830 images. It comes with hardcover and french-fold jacket. The book is currently for sale for the special price of HKD 500,- at the parallel exhibition at Goethe-Institut HK (https://www.goethe.de/ins/cn/en/sta/hon/ver.cfm?event_id=22568913).
