Between 1914 and 1916, James Deering built the Vizcaya Mansion, located on Biscayne Bay in the district of Coconut Grove in Miami, Florida, as his winter home. The Gardens were created by landscape expert Diego Suarez in the 1920s. Deering themed the property in a style resembling that of the European renaissance era and a nod to early exploration. With its rich European architecture mixed with the subtropics of Miami, this place feels as though it has leaped off the pages from a fairy tale. It is truly magical, so much so, that it is favored by photographers and filmmakers from all over. Pope John Paul II gave a speech here in 1987 and the property has appeared in movies such as airport 77 and Ace Ventura. Visiting this incredible place gives you a feeling of stepping away from reality and into the pages of a mythical world long ago.

Just spending a day at the state park. Jonathan Dickinson is one of Florida's largest state parks at 10,500 acres of wildlife refuge, hiking trails, bike trails, horseback riding, and recreational camping. The Loxahatchee River runs through it allowing visitors a place to swim, kayak, and fish. The history of the park goes back to 1696 where Jonathan Dickinson, a merchant Quaker, shipwrecked nearby. During WWII the park was known as Camp Murphy, a military training base for top-secret radar at the time. In the 1950s the land was sold back to the state of FL and became Jonathan Dickinson state park.

Howdy Ya'll. Sorry for my absence. Currently working on a few things. A new video is in the making, a new blog is coming ( I mean it this time), as well some transitions to other media platforms are happening. I will be trying out and posting our videos, old and new, to Rumble. Also, ADL will soon be on MeWe platform. Our FB, Instagram, and Youtube channel will still be around though. I am making this change so those who choose to follow can have options to where to do so, at least for now. ADL pages and channels are not for political discussions or debates nor will ADL allow them. I created ADL to share our adventures, experiences, and overall lifestyle on the road. With that said, I still understand current events regarding big tech platforms and outlets like FB, Twitter, YouTube, and Google censoring and or baning viewpoints, users, and alternate news sources. I am a supporter of market economics, and I feel, the ability to have options by way of competition is the best way to do business.

Hello everyone. Just wanted to share some pics I took while on our last leg of our Washington adventure. Finally got a good pic of Mt. Rainier, or how I perfer to call it Mt. Tacoma, without the clouds covering it. Also stumbled across an incredible waterfall as well, while getting lunch in a small town, found an actual working phone booth.

While taking a nice scenic drive in the Olympic Peninsula, we came upon, what looked to be an abandoned camp ground, with a actual Totem pole. Never seen one in person before. Pretty cool. Oh...and that's Bertie posing in the picture. She loves the camera 😁

14/08/2020

A good portion of our adventure has been about seeing things we have never seen in person before. Incredible landscapes, architecture, beautiful scenic roads, and animals that I've only seen in books, magazines and or tv. While here on the pacific coast we came upon a little tourist destination, called simply, the Sea Lion Caves. It is a large group of connected caves along the Oregon coast, and they are packed with sea lions. Sea lions have been an animal that I've always wanted to see in person. Even though for sure it is a tourist thing ( as you can hear in the video) it was a blessing to actually see these guys in person.

What Drives Us?

Well adventure is what drives us. But what is adventure? To us adventure could be doing anything that takes you away from the everyday, the mundane, or the rat race. It could be something as simple as getting lost in a great book or as significant as back packing the Pan American trail, adventure comes in all sorts of sizes and flavors. Its also not just Adventure that drives us towards this new lifestyle. But the ability to slow down, gain new skills, meet new people, experience different culture, become better stewards, and to be able to get involved and help others during our travels. This past summer we took our biggest adventure, driving west to Colorado and then up to Wyoming from Florida. We explored trails, national parks, historical land marks and places that seemed untouched by man, while camping via a rooftop tent the whole way. When our adventure was over we looked at each other and said how can we do this full time. We had come to realize that the stuff we thought was important like the four bedroom pool house with giant kitchen wasn’t for us. That the furniture that we purchased after buying the house started to look like nothing more than clutter in rooms we never used. So we started minimizing and getting rid of the clutter, we put the house on the market, and we purchased a 25 foot travel trailer that we call the Cabin. What was blocking us from adventure was the stuff we thought we needed and the jobs with long hours to pay for the stuff. The thought of selling or donating much of your stuff (that at one time you believed you needed) could seem like a stressful burden to many, but as I watched each thing leave our possession it was uplifting, like the roadblock was starting to be removed. We sold the house and only kept things we absolutely needed, i.e. a few cooking utensils, clothes, laptops and of course the coffee maker. As of November 1st we have been living in the Cabin. So we are doing this! On the last week of April we will be hitting the road heading northwest again to visit the places we wish we had time for during our last adventure. We look forward to sharing videos, photos, as well blogs about the adventures, things we’ve learned along the way, and even financial freedom advice. Until then we will be here in Hobe Sound, FL. This time of year is nice in the state so within the next few weeks we should have a video posted of some adventures here. Until then please like and share our page.
