JUST ONCE!
A young lady got pregnant in school because she wanted to prove to her boyfriend that she was a virgin. She went to a quark for abortion even though she was warned by a woman of God. It was disastrous as her intestines and womb were damaged and she was smelly.
Her parents later got to know, and, her father had to sell his parcel of land to pay for her hospital bills when she was taken to a good doctor. Just once and the boyfriend was nowhere to be found.
In Galatians 5:9, Paul said, “A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.” If we have ever put yeast in a flour mixture before, we would probably be able to comprehend how a little yeast would cause the whole flour mixture to rise; that is what happens when we take a wrong step just once. In the beginning, we may not really see what is wrong, but with time, when the bubble begins to burst, the “just once” deed would have done more harm than expected.
Thousands of people are addicted to hard drugs, alcohol, etc. just because someone told them to try it just once. But that ‘‘just once’’ and the first attempt turned out to be sour. The “just once” step gradually developed and in the end, it turned out to be a disaster.
Why must anyone experiment with something evil? Why must we succumb to pressure from a fellow human being and put our hands into sin just because someone said, ‘’do it just once.’’ Don't let us waste away our lives and future because of anything evil because we may end up perpetuating that evil act forever except if God intervenes.
Taking the first step into any evil act is just like what Solomon said in Proverbs 20:17, “Bread of deceit is sweet to man; but afterward his mouth shall be filled with gravel.” The first step in an evil act may be filled with a deceitful belief of being smart, but the consequences in the nearest future would prove otherwise.
A young guy was castigated by his friends because he was not promiscuous. So, he decided to do it once. But he got it wrong from the onset because he went to a brothel to meet with a w***e. He contracted HIV/AIDS and that “just once” attempt in that evil act led to his destruction and and later to his death.
“Just once” when it is evil may lead to the total destruction of a lifetime. See yourself as unique and don’t take irrational steps. A negative step to please friends may lead to hurt, endless pain, and untold agony.
Remember, you are not a tool that anybody can use and throw away. Look before you leap. Don't take a wrong step even just once.
