Aus Sicht des „Corner“: Frischer (Jahres)start!
Das einzige, was hier „zerstört“ (Albumtitel/Cover) wird, ist schlechte Laune. So herrlich unverkrampft und fast schon positiv locker geht das junge Quintett aus Miami/Florida auf seinem Debüt zu Werke. Midnight Spell liefern klassischen Metal nach dem Reinheitsgebot auf Basis von Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Riot, Saxon, Jag Panzer und ähnlichen Verdächtigen und lassen bis auf balladeske Töne auch keine Schattierung aus. Speed gibt es mit „Blood for blood“ (klassischer Opener), „Midnight ride“ (mit fast luftigem Groove) und dem Titelsong (bullige Riffs und ein unerwartet hervor schnellenden Refrain mit nicht zu verbergendem Jag Panzer-Einfluss :-) ). Die Uptempo-Nummer „Between the eyes” (der Demo-Titelsong) bringt speziell durch die Vocal-Harmonien ein paar Striker-Farbtupfer ins Spiel, „Cemetery queen“ dagegen einen Hauch von Doom. Dazu ein kleines Instrumental („Mercy“) und mit „To the stars“ (auch noch vom Demo rüber geholt) und „Lady of the moonlight“ noch zwei der typischen 80ies-Flair-Grenzgänger zwischen „harter als Rock/softer als Metal“, wobei Letzterer sogar etwas von Racer X haben könnte. Alles eingebettet in eine transparent trockene, nicht angestaubte Produktion, technisch sauber dargeboten und immer galant und klar geführt von Fronter Paolo Velazquez, der seine sicheren oberen Spitzen nicht übertreibt.
Schlussendlich führt das martialisch betitelte „Headbang ‘till death“ mit einem fast swingenden Saxon-Groove auf eine leicht falsche Fährte, bis die Nummer nach der Hälfte ausbricht und sich als Rausschmeißer bestens verdient macht.
Fazit: So frisch, uneigennützig und gutlaunig lasse ich mir „Sky destroyer“ als Jahresstart gerne gefallen.

KONQUEST are a brand new band based in Tuscany ready to unleash their first beast, the debut full-lenght THE NIGHT GOES ON, out on IRON OXIDE RECORDS on Jan 8th (via No Remorse the vinyl version).
KONQUEST was founded in the city of Prato in early 2020 as a solo project of Alex Rossi, who wrote all music and lyrics and recorded all tracks, quickly turning into a regular band of Traditional Hm.
This debut entitled THE NIGHT GOES ON has been produced by Alex Rossi and mastered by an international name such as as Bart Gabriel; this is the first release of Iron Oxide Records (twin label to Skol Records).
THE NIGHT GOES ON consists of eight songs forged in best tradition of traditional Hm with epic vibes and underground influences.
The first shot is THE THEME OF THE KONQUEROR, an intro epic and grandiloquent which opens the title track, a great example of traditional Hm with fresh twin guitar harmonies and charismatic vocals.
A drum roll to start TOO LATE, a direct tune enhanced by a gorgeous solo, while KEEP ME ALIVE, after a brilliant bass line, provides an 80’s riff; again to remark solo parts, always brilliant.
FALL OF THE KONQUEROR is truly our favorite, with driving bass lines, dynamic drums and a squared guitar’s attack to enrich a song that really hit us.
Maybe a step behind following HELDING BACK THE TEARS, while HEAVY HEART, after an epic intro, grows second after second with long solo parts which you’ll appreciate.
The last shot, THE VISION, is awesome, over seven minutes of high class music, the best way to end a debut that we suggest without hesitation!!

The first review of this 2021 that signs the rebirth of Hardrockheavymetal after a one-month hiatus, is about the debut full-lenght of MIDNIGHT SPELL, an awesome Classic and True HM band born amidst the Miami underground in 2017.
Featuring varied songwriting from straight-forward ragers to catchy, more melodic compositions, through pounding drums, masterful guitar solos, and soaring vocals, thIs band strives to be nothing less than the full package of what a heavy metal band should be.
Following the release of one demo, entitled “Between The Eyes", MIDNIGHT SPELL are ready to unleash this beast entitled SKY DESTROYER on IRON OXIDE RECORDS (on Lost Realms Records the vinyl version).
The first first shot is BLOOD FOR BLOOD, an awesome tune with different choices of vocals, tempo changes, driving bass lines, great entanglements between lead and backing vocals, squared riffing and well-groomed solo parts.
We can feel an 80’s touch in following BETWEEN THE EYES, more catchy when it needs, and in LADY OF THE MOONLIGHT, where all sounds great and where they able to develop an own style.
In MIDNIGHT RIDE we can feel more traditional Hm vibes, with roaring bass and pressing drums to enrich a fast song, while MERCY, which starts with an interesting intro, is one of our favorite.
The title track starts with an awesome drums attack and it’s another fast track, followed by CEMETERY QUEEN, darker at times with a Sabbath’s mood, enriched by gorgeous solo parts.
if TO THE STARS is maybe the only song that doesn’t hit us, anthemic HEADBANGING ‘TIL DEATH, squared and with Saxon’s influences, ends in the best way this great platter!!
LET’S START THIS 2021 with a giant dose of CLASSIC HM..MIDNIGHT SPELL..A BAND TO TAKE AN EYE ON!! A MUST-HAVE!!

Legendary Texas Metal power thrashers Militia announce the release of a new studio album, "And Gods Made War". The album includes 10 songs and an intro. "The songs were originally released on the "Strenght And Honor" demo CD we released in 2012, but technically speaking "And Gods Made War" is a brand new studio album", says MILITIA vocalist and founder Mike Soliz. "We dug up and re-visited all the original stems, rough tracks and even all the alternative takes. Then the material was mixed from the scratch by Cederick Forsberg, and mastered by Bart Gabriel, who also produced the entire thing" he adds. To avoid confusions with the self release from 2012, the album got new title, and new artwork by Roberto Toderico, who previously worked with acts such as HEXX, TYGERS OF PAN TANG and ASPHYX.
"The Second Coming" is a compilation that includes 10 tracks taken from the ultra rare EP that MILITIA released in 1986, and two original MILITIA demo tapes. All tracks have been remastered by the heavy metal veteran Bart Gabriel, who recently produced or mastered albums of such acts as CRYSTAL VIPER, CIRITH UNGOL and SAVAGE GRACE.
Formed in 1984, MILITIA was a part of the infamous Texas Metal scene of the 1980's. The band played with local legends, including WATCH TOWER, SA SLAYER and ROTTING CO**SE, but also well known acts such as MEGADETH, SLAYER, KING DIAMOND and EXCITER. Their debut EP "The Sybling" from 1986 is the holy grail of the heavy metal scene: when it shows up on Internet auctions, it reaches prices higher than 2000 USD.

Their new studio album ”Storm Of Steel” has been produced and mastered by the heavy metal veteran Bart Gabriel (HEXX, CIRITH UNGOL, PAGAN ALTAR), and mixed by Cederick Forsberg (CRYSTAL VIPER, BLAZON STONE).
Limited vinyl LP edition of the album will be released by Lost Realm Records, while Postmortem Apocalypse will release the album on cassette.

Legendary Texas Metal power thrashers MILITIA announce the release of a new studio album, "And The Gods Made War". The album includes 10 songs and an intro. The album will be released as CD and digital download via Skol Records, while High Roller Records will take care of the vinyl edition. "The songs were originally released on the "Strenght And Honor" demo CD we released in 2012, but technically speaking "And The Gods Made War" is a brand new studio album", says MILITIA vocalist and founder Mike Soliz. "We dug up and re-visited all the original stems, rough tracks and even all the alternative takes. Then the material was mixed from the scratch by Cederick Forsberg, and mastered by Bart Gabriel, who also produced the entire thing" he adds. To avoid confusions with the self release from 2012, the album got new title, and new artwork by Roberto Toderico.
Formed in 1984, MILITIA was a part of the infamous Texas Metal scene of the 1980's. The band played with local legends, including WATCH TOWER, SA SLAYER and ROTTING CO**SE, but also well known acts such as MEGADETH, SLAYER, KING DIAMOND and EXCITER. Their debut EP "The Sybling" from 1986 is the holy grail of heavy metal: when it shows up on Internet auctions, it reaches prices higher than 2000 USD.

But it doesn’t mean that the old continent has nothing to say.
KONQUEST was founded in Prato in Italy in early 2020. What started as a solo project of Alex Rossi - who not only wrote all the music and lyrics, but also recorded all tracks on the debut album – quickly turned into regular band, ready to conquer the stages, and give fans what they love the most. Pure, epic and old school Heavy Metal!
Their debut album entitled “The Night Goes On”, has been produced by Alex Rossi, and got mastering treatment by the Heavy Metal veteran Bart Gabriel (CIRITH UNGOL, PAGAN ALTAR, SORTILEGE). Born amidst the Miami underground comes MIDNIGHT SPELL, an unrelenting force of pure heavy metal in its truest form.
Founded in 2017, MIDNIGHT SPELL was created to carry the torch of real heavy metal and push the boundaries of the genre to its limits. Featuring varied songwriting from straight-forward ragers to catchy, more melodic compositions, through pounding drums, masterful guitar solos, and soaring vocals, the quintet strives to be nothing less than the full package of what a heavy metal band should be.
Following the release of the demo, "Between The Eyes", the band is now ready to take their sound to the next level and unleash upon the world their first full length album, "Sky Destroyer".
