My synthetic wig was looking a little ratty from a full day of wig wearing at the beach. 🫣 I’ll admit.. she could use a wash but I was out of town and I didn’t pack my shampoo essentials. But I did pack a water bottle and a wide tooth comb! And that’s really all you need for a quick refresher to get you through. She turned out pretty, didn’t she? Don’t overthink your synthetics! And don’t panic! Do: 🤍Be patient. 🤍Start with water. 🤍Always use a wide tooth comb. 🤍Start combing from the bottom up.

Have you worn a wig to the beach? 🏖️ Would love to know your thoughts! The best and ONLY wig I’ll wear to the beach is a synthetic wig that already has some “wear + tear”. The last reason down below is the most important! Prime lid first with peachy shade to neutralize purple tones 2. Apply a light to medium neutral shade on crease in a light handed windshield wiper motion. 3. With the same end of your fluffy brush, apply your medium to dark shade to lid only. 4. With smaller, more detailed side of the same brush apply your darkest shade ONLY on your lash line. 5. Blend UP with the original fluffy side. This method is SIMPLE and adds depth without over complicating an every day look. Did this happened to you Mama? Are you still waiting for this to happen? Gather round mom’s. I’m a mom of 5. I had my first 3 children and I was done. When my 3rd child turned 4, I was finally able to focus on self 🫶🏼 and self care. There’s something about that age.. but it HAS TO BE your youngest. Then I went through my divorce. I thought I would never have any more children and I never wanted to get married again. 🤯 Well ladies, God has different plans for us.. we are many times not in control of our own destiny. A new marriage and two more babies meant starting over + shifting my focus back to pregnancy and the baby years and all the things that come with that (AND IN MY 40’s this time!!), but I knew it was ALL worth it. So now my youngest is 3 1/2 and I’m starting to feel THAT feeling. She is more independent 👏👏 + I am feeling much more like my truest self.. AGAIN! It really does take that youngest “baby” turning about 3 or 4 years old. And boom the light switch turns on! ❤️ Did you experience this? Or are you not there yet?

I spot treat my Heat friendly synthetic WIGS because they NEED heat! This is simply not talked about enough in the synthetic wig wearing world! Where do our wigs get the most tangly? The nape. I’ve been wearing this Genova by Belle Tress nonstop but it was time to give her a little heat at the nape. If you take care of these wigs they will last much longer than the naysayers say. It’s that simple. Store them properly. Only use a wide tooth comb. Adjust at your ear tabs. And run a low temperature flat iron through your tangled ends when needed. And ALWAYS use water in conjunction with your heat treatment. That’s the secret ingredient! 💦 oh, and shorter synthetic wigs are much easier to maintain. There I said it. ❤️ these don’t last forever but ROTATION and proper wig maintenance is essential to prolong the life of these fibers.

Wig colors vary in all different lighting. Dawn to dusk, natural outdoor lighting little bit of cloud cover, full sun, rainy cloudy day, indoor fluorescent lighting, car lighting… Can you guess the color of this wig? Outdoors @ 6 pm on a cloudy day. ☁️ Take a guess!! ⬇️

Red is such a dramatic lip color but when you add it to your cheeks it takes on a whole new look. Innocent blushy rouge mixed with a little 🫦🔥.

Wig ends a little straggly? Have you tried this? I deep conditioned this one overnight in a ziploc bag. Rinsed and let air dry. BUT some of the ends were still a little scraggly. I COULD use heat treatment but instead I’ll hand trim just the areas that need it. This works on a wavy, deconstructed or curly style. Fresh ends for the win! 🏆 Be sure to use SHARP ✂️ for the cleanest cut.

It’s WIG washing day. 🫧 keep reading 👀 and save this reel for the secret to maintaining your synthetic wigs. Synthetic wigs need to be washed after 6 to 7 wears depending on how many hours you wear them. I’ve tried everything from the $7 bottle of shampoo from Amazon to the more expensive synthetic shampoos + I find that they all do a pretty great job. BE SURE you are using a shampoo made for synthetics only! BUT here’s a SECRET.. It’s the Bambu silicone mix lathered on (keep it off the lace top and cap) for 24 hours in a Ziploc bag that has proven to make the biggest difference! It can revive a synthetic wig that might be on the fritz. Have you tried this little gem of a secret yet?! Note: Heat friendly synthetic also needs heat but that’s a whole other story! 📖
