Getting supplies ready for tomorrow!!

One trick we were doing before was packing 6-7 masks in the kids backpack this has helped avoid the school parking lot deer in headlight look, followed by the Mom.....I forgot a mask 🤦‍♀️!!!

Or the worse fighting over which ones they like or want that the other has.....yes our hooligans even fight over masks 🤪

Grateful to have this job on my to do list today!!!

Oh man OH MAN I bawl in this one...
I am so sorry it was totally unexpected and not at the same time.

I am in a new stage of parenting and starting what I dramatically refer to as the goodbye tour.
Our baby is 4.5 SHORT years away from university and as a friend said today raising a son is like having the longest break up ever!!!

I am trying to balance between offering guidance and letting him exercise independence... needless to say I am a mess trying to figure it out😆

For my sister's in it I ask for your support, for those not yet there let my journey be a reminder that the days may seem long but years go by fast!!!

Today's podcast is a mixed bag of emotions for me... I feel excited, proud, emotional, protective and so much lighter after we did it.

Today I am soooooo excited to have a guest!!!! My girl joins me to chat real life mom stuff. She shares very openly about a journey she has been on for the last 4 yrs and I am so proud of her for being so open.
♡
I know she will help other women who listen. I am emotional as this was a very hard and emotional time in our friendship as I tried to navigate helping her while processing a huge trauma we walked through together.
I feel protective because I love her and her family and know this was a HUGE ask of me and I hope others receive it as we intended it...to help other moms and to be real!!

But a side effect I never saw coming was how it acted as a therapy session for the both of us. It allowed us off air to have a conversation that we both knew in our hearts but I was grateful to hear in my ears. I looove and am so proud of all the work this lady has done and continues to do..

Last night we had a disappointing end to our weekend. Just as we were all headed to bed ( yes Rob and I go to bed SUPRR EARLY), Cam came in upset as we forgot to study for her spelling test today.
🤦‍♀️
Now in a normal routine we study a few nights a week leading up and she writes out the words a few times.
With the gong show that was last week we got tossed off routine, and only practiced 1 time.
Her words are trickier so she was SURE she is going to "fail".

Our take on tests & school in Gundryville is be prepared/contribute & do your best, we don't care about grades.
🥰
But we didn't prepare!!!!
I followed my baby to her room and promised to be ready to help her this morning and that she would have to do her best and forget the rest. For a competitive child this didn't make her feel better.
She kept saying I dont know the sentences (meanings for each word as they are Homophones).
She was IN PANICK mode.
😫
This morning I was on the treadmill and heard Rob was up earlier then normal, when I came up he had written out sentences to help her study this morning

And set up her work station so she can dive right in when she wakes up!!
🥰
He also added a hilarious joke to her desk, a naked baby Cam has started to leave for others to find ...Gundry inside joke for sure 😄 but it makes her laugh sooooo hard.

She may get zero out of 20 on spelling but she will be reminded of how supported she is and I think that's needed right now way more.

Happppy New Year!!! There is a new episode of Growing Up Gundry podcast out in the Universe today and its all about Momma's getting in there family photo's.

We have been trying to soak up these last few weeks of summer and leave the couch after dinner.
Tonight was a beautiful night so we hit the trail by Lake Lisgar.
I love that all these streets and locations hold my children childhood. As we walked they shared so many stories of camp, friends and games they played here and a million memories of them young flooded my mind.

This beautiful evening almost resulted in The Badge and his mom walking home 🤣😂 This dog I swear tries to bug Rob!!! He decided to lay down in the lake ( first words we heard were "NO YOU HAVE TO GET BACK IN MY TRUCK!!!)

Luckily we got a ride home ❤

For 163 days I have been in their ear shot.
For 163 days I have watched them navigate a pandemic.
For 163 days we have shared rooms, cars, pools, fights, laughter and a tons of love.
For 163 days I have fought internal fear and questioned everything we did and where we went.
For 163 days we rode this roller coaster of emotions together.
For 163 days I trusted our provincial experts to tell us what's our best course of action.
For 163 days I have said yes to things I feel are safe and "No go" to countless invites I wasn't ready for.
For 163 days I fought for alone time, a few seconds of peace all while hunting for Joy in this crazy journey.

SO in 17 days or so we have choosen to let them out of ear shot and they will return to school.
I find the end of summer super emotional every year but that emotion is hitting me much earlier this year and MUCH HARDER as team Gundry prepares to enter a new experience for us all.

This pandemic is HARD, it has come with giant loss and sadness but it also allowed me 163 straight days (& counting) with these 2 and that is a GIANT gift ❤

To all my mom and dad friends, whatever your choices have been or how ever your 163 days have looked YOU DID AN AMAZING JOB!! I know how hard it is, I know how much it demanded of you but I know we are all in this together and you did the VERY best you could!!

Continue to be safe friends!!!! And soak up those kiddos these last few weeks of summer.

I stop here each morning that I walk and breath. Just a few intentionally, slow moments to breathe and enjoy!

I love being a mom, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend and an employee but to show up there I need these moments. Just to be ME!!!

November 2nd is Random Acts of Kindness day we at Lunchbox Orders love the idea of getting our kids involved as well. These acts do not have to cost money or take much time. The message to remember is that Kindness Inspires Kindness and we all can be the change we wish to see in the world.
