Indian Institute of Hams (IIH) was founded in the year 1992 by Sri S.Sathyapal, VU2FI and Sri R.J.Marcus, VU2VTM (a veteran Ham) in the interest of promoting Ham Radio as a scientific hobby and a Radio Sport in the country specially in the State of Karnataka and since then it stands as a voluntary force during natural disasters and calamities. We had our inauguration on the 16th of August 1993 at
National High School, Basavangudi. Presently we are located at Sree Kanteerava Outdoor Stadium. We are a registered trust and is licensed by the Ministry of Communications, Government of India. We are affiliated to the National Institute of Amateur Radio (NIAR), Hyderabad. Hams and SWLs meet often and discuss about developmental activities. Some of our activities included:
Providing vital communication links at the Gujarat Earthquake. Providing communications when the Orissa Cyclone occured. Helped in Relief efforts after the quake-triggered tsunami hit the Indian coast. Provided communications for the 4th National Games. Provided communications for the K1000 Rally and many more...
We also conduct live awareness programs on ham radio and help in setting up Ham Radio Clubs at educational institutions. We received the Rajiv Gandhi Award for two consecutive years: 1995 & 1996. May 2015
Inaugurating VHF Radio Echolink Repeater for WORLD HAM COMMUNITY first in Benguluru City was inaugurated by Sri K.B.Krishna Murthy, VU3VIP Patron-in chief-IIH, Former MP & Secretary, AICC. Any Ham from his computer or smart phone any where in the world can connect to this Radio Repeater. Frequency: 145.275 (Minus 600 shift) Callsign: VU2ZO. Role call net will be conducted every day between 2130 - 2200 hrs from Bengaluru (Silicon City)
IIH is a Member, Amateur Radio Society of India (ARSI). IIH has installed and maintaining VHF Repeater with echolink connectivity for the Ham Fraternity. Callsign of the repeater: VU2ZO. Repeater frequency: 145.275 minus 600 Khz shift. Silicon city net is conducted every day between 2115 Hrs - 2200 Hrs. Some times, VU2IIH-R with echolink connectivity is also linked to this VU2ZO repeater.
