"Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake", Matt. 5:11.

*BIBLICAL TRUTH*
True Christians are persecuted, called all kinds of names and criticized for refusing to walk in the ways of the world.

*REJOICE WHEN CRITICIZED FOR FAITH* (Luke 6:22-23)

22. Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.

23. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

22. Blessed are you when people hate you, when they exclude you and insult you and reject your name as evil, because of the Son of Man.

23.."Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how your ancestors treated the prophets".

*LESSON PASSAGE OVERVIEW*
A gossip has an unclean heart, Matt. 15:10-20. Otherwise what kind of persons would attack Jesus Christ Himself with gossips, Matt. 9:10-12; 11:18-19; Mark 14:53-59; John 7:12.
If Christ was a subject of gossip, all who walk in faith must expect similar treatment. (John 15:18-19; 1 Pet. 2:19-20; 1 John 3:13). However Luke 6:22 tells us, "Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you... for the Son of man's sake". If one is foolish, lazy, untrustworthy, unfaithful, fraudulent, etc, and is hated, there is no blessing in that. By human standards, we say he/she deserves such treatment.
But if one is hated, persecuted, unduly criticized and gossiped about simply because he or she is a good Christian, generous, zeal

*THE CHOSEN DAILY DEVOTIONAL*

*DATE*: Thursday, 24th August, 2023.
*TOPIC:* FOCUS ON YOUR FUTURE
*MORNING TEXT:* JOSH. 1:1-5

*MESSAGE*
How interesting it is to know that God is interested in your tomorrow more than your yesterday, because your yesterday has already expired. The same reason why you should let go of your past. This is exactly what God is trying to demonstrate in our text today. Versus l and 2 says,
_"Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD Spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying, Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all the people, unto the land which I do give to them..."_
We can see that God did not want Joshua to be depressed over the death of Moses. Rather, God encouraged Joshua to arise and cross over Jordan. The Moses was your yesterday, while Joshua stands for your future. Until you declare your past dead (completely let go of your past) you may not be able to enter your future. The gain of the past is the experience derived; use it as the oars you need to navigate into the ocean of the future. Remember Naomi? She never allowed her ugly past witchhunt her future. She introduced Ruth to Boaz. You can't afford to leave your footstep in the book of failure. You must press toward the prize for the higher calling. Beloved, the future is still very bright. Maintain the right attitude and mindset towards the issues of life. No matter how awkward the wilderness may be, you must struggle out from the wilderness to cross over the Jordan to possess your possession.

*PRAYER POINTS: START WITH PRAISE & WORSHIP*
1. Appreciate God for his mercies endureth forever.
2. Pray God to forgive you for looking backwards or counting your failure.
3. Pray that your ugly past will not witchhunt your present or future.
4. Prove that no matter how worse the situation may be, grace will pull you out to possess your possession.
