Moments from the perfect city break in Tarragona 🧡

You’ll find this gorgeous Catalan city in the Costa Daurada, a beautiful area on the northeast coast of Spain. Only an hour from Barcelona, the vibe in Tarragona couldn’t be more different - and all the better for it.

Pretty streets lead to lively plazas, cute cafes, exceptional restaurants, picturesque harbours, and so much history around every corner. Plus, there are miles of sandy beaches all around the coast.

Yet there are no crowds, few tourists, and the pace of life is wonderfully gentle in Tarragona.

Put this Catalan city high on your travel list for summer.

Welcome to Gaucin 🇪🇸

A small but perfectly formed hilltop village and another of Andalucía's pretty pueblos blancos. There’s much more to explore here than some of the other villages in the area and we spent a day exploring the castle, gardens, and plenty of beautiful streets.

One of the best things to do in Gaucin is just wander. The narrow streets are a maze of whitewashed homes, pretty plazas, and fragrant flowers on every street corner.

Our first stop in the Andalusian hills brought us to Vejer-de-la-Frontera - a gorgeous little village of cobbled streets, whitewashed walls, and hidden plazas. Perfect for a slow morning of exploring under the Spanish sun.

Our first day in Northern Spain brought us to Haro, a small town synonymous with wine bars, bodegas, and vineyards all selling locally produced & world-famous Rioja wine.

Undoubtedly, vino tintos is what brings most people to Haro - and many tourists ignore the town's historic centre in their rush to pre-booked wine tastings.

Yet Haro is a charming maze of narrow streets, vibrant plazas, and a beautiful church. Tucked away tapas bars are a wonderful temptation. So too are rustic wine bars selling of course Rioja, in glasses that appear small - but are deceptively dangerous!

The latest entry in my travel journal - a 4,500 mile road trip around France and Spain. This is our rough plan and the reason we've disappeared to the continent for three months. Read more:

Now, with all the planning done, we finally had an itinerary: an epic 4,500-mile loop of France & Spain.

Hello everyone! Finally, I’m back online after an unexpectedly long break. Sorry for the lack of updates and a massive thanks for bearing with me.

It’s time to catch you up on what’s been happening over the last year - which is quite a lot!

As you may have seen on Instagram, I’ve arrived in Spain (yay!) after a month in France. I'll do a recap of our route super soon but in the meantime please enjoy some of the lovely sights from our current spot on the Andalusian coast... 🇪🇸

A magical early morning wander in the Cairngorms 🌿

The walk through Anagach Woods is a stretch of the much grander Speyside Way, and boasts spectacular forest and river views. A little oasis of calm ~ this is easily one of my favourite short walks in the whole Cairngorms National Park!

Why not visit Kj's Bothy Bakery Grantown in the village of Grantown-on-Spey afterwards, for a delicious & much earned treat!

How gorgeous is this wild beach in the Scottish Highlands? On our list of places to visit in late summer 🤍

Sandwood Bay as the birds see it.

We are so lucky to be the guardians of this wild place, just a few miles from Cape Wrath. Sandwood Bay is widely said to be one of the most remote and beautiful beaches in Scotland, but this area is about so much more.

The area we look after also includes eight islands, a saltwater lagoon and the freshwater Sandwood Loch, captured here as she meets the ocean. It contains dune grassland, shifting dunes and machair - one of Europe’s rarest habitats.

Sandwood is home to the rare Great Yellow bumblebee 🐝 as well as hundreds of nesting fulmars, guillemots, razorbills and shags. Seasonal visitors include great northern divers, golden plovers and redwings.

It’s a busy old place, if you know where to look. 📸

🌲 Wander Somewhere is LIVE 🌲 I'm so excited to finally share my adventure and travel blog - Wander Somewhere ✨

In 2020, I started creating a space to share my favourite outdoorsy adventures. But what started as a way to recall those incredible moments, like the happiness of standing on a mountain summit or the solitude of a wild camp, quickly transformed into something more.

So, over the year when we've all been waiting impatiently for the next time we can go explore, I've written stories and guides to help you plan your own future adventures 🥾🗺️

I hope you enjoy my collection of hikes, walks, swims, islands, cabins, road trips, and other wild experiences! If you do then hit SUBSCRIBE for more outdoor tips coming soon! 👐
