3 Mistakes to Avoid as a young dentist: 1) Not using Magnification: magnification can easily hands down be the one thing that could make or break your journey in clinical dentistry You can't drive a car if you can't see the road. How can you diagnose cracks, proximal decay or perform quality procedures without a magnification device. My recommendation is if not a microscope atleast Loupes with 3X and above magnification are the bare minimum . 2) Degree Hopping : don't hop degrees without experience. Ask any of your seniors who are honest with you, how much did the degree contribute to their growth. When planning further education, plan wisely and be frugal on your budget. Taste the market before hopping on a Masters. I am not saying Masters degrees won't help, all I am saying is take an informed decision . Else you'll be left in the woods fetching for help. You don't want to learn a skill which you could've built on. You don't want to learn a skill which has less jobs in your area of practice. College life can be delusional (Sorry but not Sorry) 3) Downplaying your Non-Dental Strengths : if you look great, please don't leave the option of modelling (if that interests you), if you are good at graphic designing - continue doing that alongside your clinical career.
