TRE Philippines 2014

TRE or trauma release exercises have been shared with over 1M people in other calamity and war-town areas around the world like Thailand, Japan, China and Afghanistan and it's helped each individual a lot.

It also helps regular people since everyone has stress in life, some more than others, especially those who went through wars and calamities. This involuntary shaking exercise helps people obtain relief from stress. The exercises are as simple as bending, twisting and stretching, and the second half is just the relaxing part. As a participant says: "It's like THERAPY without having to talk, and actually better." The stress and trauma are released. These can be done from 4 yr olds to 82-yr olds.

Are you interested in becoming certified as a TRE practitioner and helping spread the technology? HCD or Human Capital Development will conduct a three day training on January 29, 30, 31, 2014, followed by two days of practice. Text the organizer (HCD) at Globe: +63 906 225 6181 or Smart +63 947 938 9834 or email [email protected]

Dear valued subscribers, readers and FB followers:

Thank you for choosing MOMStoday as your choice of magazine in becoming a better parent.

Starting next year, MOMStoday will be a bi-annual magazine. The two issues will center on different age groups and concerns: Bright Beginnings: Baby Basics and Your Growing Child. Baby Basics will feature all concerns of moms in taking care of newborns up to 2 years old. This magazine will be given for free to maternity patients at selected hospitals.

Your Growing Child will highlight child rearing issues from 2 years old and above. This will also be given away for free to schools and other learning or recreational establishments for kids.

We believe that this transition will make MOMStoday more efficient in terms of distribution and reach to a very targeted audience.

If you have a pending subscription next year, you have the option to convert your remaining issues to a HealthToday magazine subscription. The reformatted magazine will also feature new articles on parenting concerns starting from pregnancy, child care and wellness in the family. Should you avail of this option, we will provide you with a free copy of your choice of either Baby Basics or Your Growing Child. Both magazines will be released mid-2014.

We still look forward to your continuing subscription with HealthToday as we continue to empower families to healthy living.

Thank you and happy parenting!

Don't Blame Social Media if Your Teen Is Unsocial. It's Your Fault | Wired Opinion | Wired.com

"[what] Boyd discovered, is that today’s teens have neither the time nor the freedom to hang out. So their avid migration to social media is a rational response to a crazy situation. They’d rather socialize F2F, so long as it’s unstructured and away from grown-ups. 'I don’t care where,' one told Boyd wistfully, 'just not home.'"

http://www.wired.com/opinion/2013/12/ap_thompson-2/

If kids can’t socialize, who should parents blame? Simple: They should blame themselves. Teenagers would love to socialize face-to-face with their friends. But adult society won’t let them.

The Before & After Photo I Never Wanted to See. ~ Jamie Khoo

"I may never be able to boast a thin ‘before’ photo again but I’m learning to trust that my body will know where it needs to be and I will love it all the more. I know now that no one else in the world will have a body like mine (or yours, or yours, or yours) and so it should be loved for being just the way it is, whatever size or shape it eventually decides to settle on."

But there it is—all 20-pounds-more of me, eight years later.

The MMDA is imposing a ban on races/runs during the Christmas season and early January 2014. Why not participate in one of the remaining year's fun runs? See you December 7, Saturday, 6 a.m.

In light of the tragedy caused by Typhoon Yolanda, St. Luke’s Medical Center calls on everyone to put on their running shoes and charitable hearts to run and rebuild lives. The St. Luke’s Run for Wellness is a fun run where we can all unite to bring back to wellness our fellow Filipinos devastated by the recent disaster. It will be on December 7, Saturday, 6 a.m. onwards at the Bonifacio Global City grounds. All proceeds of the fun run will go to the relief and rehabilitation of areas stricken by the recent calamity in the Visayas.

Targeting to engage experienced and first-time runners, the young and young-at-heart who want to help out and get involved, the Run for Wellness promises to be a creative, non-traditional fun run that combines the exercise of running and fun-filled activities along the race route. It is also St. Luke's way of promoting community spirit, disease prevention and overall well-being for the general public.

Among the stations that runners will encounter during the race include a Water Gun Station where marshalls will spray runners with water along 100 meters, a Color Me Blue Station where blue powder will be thrown as runners go through the course, and an Air Blower Station where runners will be dried off and blown away as they try to reach the finish line. The fun doesn’t stop when the race stops because other activities await participants such as a giant slide, creative photo booth and a balloon wall.

For those who'd like to have their copies signed, Ichel Aligany will be at the Mommy Mundo Bazaar on Sunday, Dec. 8 for a book book signing from 4-6pm.

Knowledge is one of the best tools in equipping ourselves as parents in our quest to raise “digital children.” The book “Growing Up Wired: Raising Kids in the Digital Age”, available under Anvil Publishing, is an information-packed yet easy read, 368-page book authored by Queena Lee-Chua, Maribel Dionisio, Nerisa Fernandez and Ichel Alignay.

Experts characterize this generation of children as confident, optimistic, and candid--but they're also easily bored, readily distracted, and self-absorbed.

In the groundbreaking study, the authors present findings from well-known international studies, as well as personal experiences and testimonials by Filipino students, families, teachers, and experts on why our children have totally different and distinct – and sometimes alarming – behaviors and values in response to modern technology, particularly the internet.

This book also answers common questions on raising Filipino kids today: How can we use social media wisely? How do we deal with our kids gaming addiction? How can we motivate kids to read and socialize healthily? How can we talk so kids will listen? How can we integrate technology effectively in school?

For those who'd like to have their copies signed, Ichel Aligany will be at the Mommy Mundo Bazaar on Sunday, Dec. 8 for a book book signing from 4-6pm.

Existential Depression in Gifted Children | The Unbounded Spirit

Hold fast to dreams,
For if dreams die,
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams.
For if dreams go,
Life is a barren field
Covered with snow.

~Langston Hughes

http://theunboundedspirit.com/existential-depression-in-gifted-children/

It has been my experience that gifted and talented persons are more likely to experience a type of depression referred to as existential depression. Although an episode of existential depression may be precipitated in anyone by a major loss or the threat of a loss which highlights the transient natu...
