Recently teaming up in the 49'er FX class, young Squadron member Dervla Duggan and her new sailing partner, Mina Ferguson, are set to compete in the 2023 Allianz Sailing World Championships, being held in the North Sea from the Dutch coastal city of Scheveningen - starting on Friday. ⛵ 🇳🇱⛵
Dervla is a member of the Australian Sailing Team's development squad, a formal program that provides a pathway from elite youth to Olympic level competition. Mina is in the Australian futures squad and there is little doubt that these 2 stars will provide us with plenty of excitement into the future!! ⛵😃⛵
The young guns of the Australian 49'er FX class, Dervla and Mina join 3 other elite Australian entrants in the 61 strong fleet. They all will be having a crack at not only the World Championship but also will be trying to qualify the Australian 49'er FX class for 2024 Paris Olympics - no easy task! ⛵🇦🇺⛵
Dervla is another who developed her love of sailing in the wonderfully safe and supportive environment provided by Sandy Bay Sailing Club. It is no coincidence that kids down there just thrive. Give them a boat, a beach, a few other kids, the right support and magic just happens. ⛵💖⛵
