Hi everyone, if you like to what has happened so far with Hurricane Ida, personally my New Orleans headquarters for Mississippi Weather
Louisiana Weather has lost power as of 3PM Sunday afternoon following a series of flickering on and off all throughout the day. Main headquarters suffered a bit of damage to the building with the loss of roof shingles and a bit of the roof nearly torn off, flooded water from the basement which has since receded, and a lot of tree branches down. Yesterday afternoon at 4pm I officially relocated to the backup headquarters here in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi in Hancock County. I will then most likely relocate to temporary headquarters in Columbus, Georgia for the Labor Day Weekend (unless I get word from the city of New Orleans that I come back to Main headquarters in New Orleans, Louisiana) so that’s where I am for right now. Southeastern Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast are under a heat advisory until 5PM later today. Today will mostly be sunny with a 40% chances of thunderstorms in some places in Southeast Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Most other parts of the state of Louisiana will see nothing sunshine with temperatures in the upper 80’s and maybe even in the lower 90’s. So that’s all for now and Sunday was also the 16 year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina in addition to Hurricane Ida, because of Ida I had to delay the yearly celebration of the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina which was the most damaging hurricane to Louisiana and Mississippi 16 years ago. Please share me your memories of Hurricane Katrina and where you were during Katrina 16 years ago. Mine was when I evacuated to Baton Rouge, Houston, and Walker before finally going back to New Orleans by new year’s of 2006. Thank you for being concerned and I hope everyone is doing well. -Andrew Ellinghausen, President and CEO of Louisiana Weather and Mississippi Weather.

Latest Advisory from the National Hurricane Center has a landfall for late tonight early Saturday morning on the Louisiana Coast at 1AM as a tropical storm. But really this thing is a sloppy mess and the window of opportunity for this system to upgrade to tropical storm status is closing. If it does, it would be named Claudette. As of now this tropical activity will leave Louisiana by Saturday afternoon when it enters Mississippi and continues up a northeastern track. Father’s Day is not looking good for Sunday as more rain heads down to Southeastern Louisiana and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Our friends in North Carolina, you could expect this as a post-tropical low on Monday. Our sister page North Carolina Weather has you guys covered. Stay tuned to Louisiana Weather and Mississippi Weather for more info.
