There have been many ways, people define the 'Hindu Religion'. However, neither 'Hindu', or 'Religion' describes what we are. Veidic Sanatana Dharma or Varna Ashrama Dharma is the correct way of describing us. Dharma cannot be equated to religion. The closest word for religion would be pant (पंत)। Swami Ji has graciously agreed to deliver lectures in Hindi, even though it is not his first language.
