One for the coolest things to ever happen to me was after my wedding, due to working for a tourism town, we had to postpone our honeymoon until January/February of the following year.
My husband works in the tourism industry and one day, he was helping this wonderful older couple and telling them about how he just got married and what not (hubby is definitely a talker 😆), they reached out to him a couple days later and offered to give us their timeshare week for our honeymoon. They said we could go anywhere in the U.S. they could exchange it to and pay the fees as well. We were absolutely floored by their generosity and love, beyond words.
We were blessed to be able to take a week long honeymoon in Washington state the following February, thanks to them.
I found a nice sized rock and painted an evergreen tree landscape on it (not very well, but I tried 🤣) and sent it to them with a thank you note as well.
Thankfully, weve kept in touch afterward and when the wonderful wife called us a few weeks later to ask how everything went, she realized she had never gotten the actual date of our wedding through all of our chats!
We tell her, “Oh, we got married November 7th, 2017!”

Silence for a few moments….

She says, “I knew we had a special connection with you guys. Our wedding date is November 7th, 1977. Exactly 40 years before you!”

You know those conversations with someone that are so raw, unabashed, and intriguing that they sneak up on you?
All of the sudden you realize you’ve been talking into the wee hours of the morning as the golden rays start to rise and beam into the room.
You’ve been sharing and hearing some of the innermost thoughts and stories from the lives you both have lived and you never would’ve guessed the person sitting in front of you would’ve gone through what they did in their lifetime to that point.
Sometimes it’s amazing, sometimes it’s tragic, but either way it’s incredible when we tear the walls down and truly get to know one another.

That’s kind of my goal here.

Social media, though an amazing tool at times, has conditioned us to think that those posting their highlights are the only ones living the high life, but that’s simply just not true.
Too many people are hurting behind closed doors, wondering if anyone would ever possibly understand what they’re thinking or what they’ve gone through in life.
Too many of us are struggling to survive the seasons of life that have been dealt to us and we need to come together and open up so we can support, celebrate, uplift, love and help those we love and those around us.
Entire movies are made and books are written about inspiring true stories, but we fail to realize so many inspiring true stories surround us at all times.
When we break down the barriers and see others breaking down theirs as well you will find that you are not alone, you are loved, and your story does matter.
