The House Committee Chairman on Sports, Honourable Ekene Adam Abubakar, has vowed to leave no stone unturned to bring about desired change to sports sector in the country.
Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, in Abuja, Hon. Adam expressed that sports remain the greatest unifying tool for every nation in the world and the country is ready to use sports to unify Nigerians.
Hon. Ekene Adams, an erudite scholar, a well groomed and well nurtured sports administrator, expressed that support from all Sports stakeholders in the will result in desired growth and development.
According to him, one of you have become the Chairman of Sports, all I want is for us to come together to succeed and bring the desired change to sports industry.
“I am one of you, and before I got to this level, people knew me with my 5 points agenda at my constituency.
“All we want to see is best sports in Nigeria and Africa, now I have opportunity, we need the support of everyone to do that.”

HON. EKENE ABUBAKAR PREACHES PEACE AND UNITY AMONG SPORTS STAKEHOLDERS IN NIGERIA

Newly appointed Chairman, House Committee on Sports in Nigeria’s Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Ekene Abubakar Adams has called on all sports stakeholders in the country to come together and embrace peace for the growth and development of sports in the country, paimedia.com.ng reports
Hon. Ekene gave the charge at a press briefing on Tuesday evening in Abuja.
While speaking, the Kaduna state born lawmaker said with the support of every stakeholders in the country, legislators will bring about the desired change that Nigerians are yearning for.
He assured that for wider consultations, their doors will continually be open to every stakeholder to come in and offer bits and pieces of advice, which they’ll in turn proffer solutions to, so as to see that sports reclaim it’s lost glory in the country.
“All am preaching is that we must come together to embrace peace, we are legislators, we believe we will legislate to do the laws and send it to the executives for them to implement”
“I also want to believe with the support of each and every one of you, we are going to bring that desired change and the dream of every Nigerian”
“This is the dream we have been having, this is the Nigeria we want to see, each and every one of us that legislates will work with you, work with the executives to advise and see how we will achieve this feat and sports will come back from it’s lost glory”
Hon. Ekene equally used the opportunity to congratulate Nigeria’s national women’s basketball team, D’Tigress as well as the women’s national football team, the Super Falcons for progressing to the second round of the ongoing 2023 Afrobasket in Rwanda, as well as the FIFA women’s world cup in Australia and New Zealand respectively.
He said the team has made the country proud in their various competitions, and prayed for continuous support so that sports in Nigeria will remain a force to reckon with across the globe.

paimedia.com.ng gathered that a larger meeting with all stakeholders was initially scheduled to take place on Thursday, August 3rd, but has now been shifted to a later date on the grounds of a planned nationwide protest that the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) promises to embark upon.
