A scene from our upcoming short film, The Final Act. We shot this in LA during the summer of 2020 in the wake of protests happening all over the world following the murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. It was one of the hardest films to direct and write because of the trauma surrounding the subject. And truthfully, we don't need anymore films about black suffering. But art imitates reality and our reality is suffering.

So, our hope is that this film sparks a bit of outrage in us all.

The Final Act. Coming summer '22.

This time last year I wrote a script for a short film. I didn't really know at the time, what my point of view was as a new screenwriter. All I knew was that I wanted to write stories that hightlighted multi-dimensional and mult-ethnic characters. I wanted to see a story arc that showcased womxn of color in a non-monolithic manner, while also delivering dialogue focused on the intersectionality of sexuality, race and gender fluidity.

In doing so, I wrote a story that demystifies stereotypes surrounding black, q***r womxn. This film birthed a new storyteller in me; one who values authenticity and inclusion. Happy Hour is a film that tests heteronormativity and taps into the sexual fantasies that cis-gendered, heterosexual women experience regarding other womxn.

There are so many people to thank who helped shape this story into a beautiful depiction of who I am as a creator. I've learned so much about filmmaking and more about myself during this process.

I look forward to sharing it with you as we finalize post-production. I want to also thank Zaybion De'Ron Hart for designing such a whimsical poster. Thank you to all of the actors, the crew and all of the post-production crew working behind the scenes. This means more to me than you'll ever know.
