What is the role of a facilitator? 🤔 A facilitator is many things including...

Your Trail Guide - You pick the destination. I work with you using my creative facilitation tools to plan your experience, navigate unexpected curves, and help everyone on your team make it to the end.

Your Cheerleader - You need someone to encourage, affirm, and energize the room throughout the retreat. I provide tips and tricks for getting your group to the finish line feeling motivated and accomplished.

Your Referee - You and your team are here to play the game, so let me take care of the timekeeping and ensure a level playing field. I’m equipped to keep the group on track so you all come out feeling like winners.

Hello 2025! 🌟 Open Space Creative started the new year jumping right into the work of empowering mission-driven groups to envision their future!

On January 4th, Anna facilitated a retreat for Belle Fourche Area Community Theater ( ) to kick off their strategic planning process. This is the first time the organization is taking on this endeavor. It was a day of productive sessions and group-strengthening exercises. Whether it's the start of a new day, a new week, or a new year, we could always use a reminder like this one from producer Shonda Rhimes: "Yearning for a life of passion and purpose? Start doing things that ignite your excitement.”

Giving doesn't have to end with ! There are many ways to give and any support you offer makes a difference any time of year. Let's keep on giving!

🫶 Give your time!
Volunteering with an organization can be a big help whether it's for an afternoon, a day, or a long-term project.

🫶 Share your support!
When your favorite organization posts about their programs, fundraisers, and announcements, help spread the word by sharing with your circles.

🫶 Donate items!
Gently used extra toys, extra clothing, extra food, and even extra household items like kitchenware and handy tools can be used by someone else.

What other ideas do you have to "give?"

What does your weekend look like? 🍂 This time of year can feel so busy and overwhelming. Whether you are headed into the weekend after a long week or are just starting your shift, take some time for yourself in the coming days! Rest, rejuvenation, and fun are so important. Take a short nap. Dance to your favorite song. Take your lunch to the park. Call a friend. Any other ideas? 🤔

Project RAY-diant + Collaborative Data Visuals 🌟 Let me tell you how an informal poll turned into a live, collaborative, and creative display.

At a recent women-in-business conference, I wanted to demonstrate how data gathering and using simple, creative collaboration could result in a community project and an appealing display of information. Since this was an event for female entrepreneurs, I thought I would ask, "What is your strength?" - strengths in business and/or life! I wanted to base it on Gallup's CliftonStrengths' four categories, so I assigned each category a color. I then used Adobe Illustrator to figure out the best puzzle-piece shapes. The sun center was created in Adobe InDesign and printed with some stencil references for the parallelograms. I spent the night before the conference cutting out hundreds of parallelograms in the four colors.

At the conference, I set out a key reference sheet and displayed the collaborative board in front of my booth. As the attendees passed by the booth, I posed them the question and invited them to write their strength on one of the correlating, cut-out shapes to stick it on the board. Some examples of strengths were written on the key sheet, but attendees also had the option to come up with their own, and we'd figure out what category it seemed to best fall under. Writing their name on the shape was also an option, and some proudly signed their strength for all to see.

At the end of the day, we had a completed Project RAY-diate! Not only could we see the individual strengths of attendees, but we had an idea of what types of strengths were most represented in the room. More participants identified as relationship-builders! Influencing and executing strengths were the least represented. This information could be used to inform decisions around workshops and speakers at future women-in-business events.

I enjoyed talking with attendees about their strengths and watching their faces light up as they stuck their papers on the board. This is the kind of creative collaboration I can bring to your group work! Send me an email with your questions, and I'll send you my flier. [email protected]

Grit and Gratitude! 💫 That was the theme yesterday where I attended the Women in Business Summit ran by . Hundreds of business women and a handful of other folks gathered for speakers and networking. Open Space Creative was also in attendance, rocking a booth and, of course, I brought a project! OSC informally polled attendees asking “what is your strength?” and together we created an interactive data visualization called Project RAY-diant! Out of the four categories based on CliftonStrengths, Relationship Building (in bright orange) was the most present strength represented by summit goers. A fitting result in a room full of networking women in business! (More on that project to come!)

Thanks to everyone for participating, chatting with OSC about group work and creative services, and for sharing what you are passionate about. I enjoyed meeting you all! I am here to continue the conversations and look forward to collaborating in the future.

Thank you SD CEO for putting on a great day! And I am filled with gratitude for the lunch provided!! It may sound silly but having a 90% gluten-free meal that is filling AND delicious makes someone with dietary restrictions feel included. Good call on the southwest bar. 🌮😄👍
