Today we wrapped up production of “Fly” with this great group of people! This is the largest cast and crew for a DrumSong Media production. We appreciate everyone who has gotten involved - we had fun! And we can’t wait to share what we’ve made together with the rest of the world. On to post-production! 🪰🎬

“The Library Code” was filmed after business hours at Belle Fourche Public Library with 10 cast and crew members from Northern Hills.

One of my favorite things about creating “The Library Code” was making all of these prop books! I was able to duplicate the look of the system labels at the library we shot at with the help of my Mom and former librarian, Laura Robinson. I’ll be keeping these props around!

From our lead filmmaker on our latest project and fundraiser “Fly” -

This week is su***de prevention week. That word is something that’s haunted me at different times in my life - a dark hole in a forgotten part of the backyard where I’ve lingered on the edge, but would rather not revisit now.

With this film project I’m going to have to face my own emotions around mental health. I’m not looking forward to that part. But it’s good to be open. It’s good to be vulnerable. And I’m lucky to have support and encouragement around the project.

Even with a $5 contribution we feel your support and belief in what we’re doing making this film. We know you regard mental health as important. So, please, consider contributing your coffee budget or happy hour for just one day. And help us spread the word about the project! Sharing on your feed can make a difference!

The is this weekend and we can’t wait to see the Library Code in Aberdeen! But we have to acknowledge the group of people who made this project happen! Along with our talented leads there were many other people who played extras and helped behind the scenes.
Thank you to the whole cast and crew for your time and participation! We made something pretty cool and soon it’ll be available to the whole world! 🤩🥳

The Library Code’s premier at the will be a first for many of our team. Heather Pittman gives a great performance as a supporting role in the short and will make her film festival debut in Aberdeen.

We’re excited to announce that we are fundraising for our next short film project!
“Fly” is the story of a young woman experiencing depression through the lens of a house fly trapped in a jar. Written, produced and directed by our lead filmmaker .
We will be launching the crowdfunding campaign later this week, so keep an eye out! Many different levels to contribute and make a difference. We’re going to need your help to make this impactful!

A Chat with Artist Jess Lamworth

Anna from OSC had a chat with the amazingly talent artist, Jess Lamworth, as she was passing through South Dakota! ☀️ Originally from Maryland, you might recognize her from the latest season of Making It! Jess is a multidisciplinary artist with experience in painting, illustration, animation, sculpture and food art. We had a chat at the Green Bean Coffeehouse Spearfish and talked about her favorite stops in South Dakota, Making It, the arts, Halloween, and her roadtrip playlist. What is Open Space Creative? Open Space Creative (OSC) is a working art and media studio producing products and services that inspire, entertain, and build community, while also fostering creative minds through collaborative and educational initiatives.

Who is OSC? Anna and Derek are a dynamic, married team with over 15 years of experience in arts, digital marketing, and arts organizing/events. After meeting at a coffee shop in the summer of 2017, they have since been creating and dreaming together.

Anna graduated with a degree in Communication Arts with a minor in Music Composition from Cardinal Stritch University. She has over 7 years of digital arts experience, is an award-winning songwriter/filmmaker, and the co-founder and organizer of Singing Doe, women-in-music event.

Derek graduated with a degree in Animation from the Arts Institute of Denver. He has worked as a digital artist at TDG in Deadwood for over twelve years and as the director of the Belle Fourche High School Theatre program for over ten years. He is now also the executive director of Belle Fourche Area Community Theatre.
