Australian Brenton Tarrant, the 29-year-old terrorist who killed 51 Muslim worshippers at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand in March 2019, was awarded a lifer without a parole.

A Mathematics (Hons.) student at Delhi University’s St Stephen College, Prakash earned a Gold for the country in the Mental Calculation World Championship at Mind Sports Olympiad (MSO).

Not only this but Prakash also has 4 world records to his name along with 50 Limca records for his fastest ever Mathematics calculations.

Kuwait eased its book censorship laws after banning about 5,000 books in the last seven years.

The country's parliament voted 40 to 9 in favour of lifting the restriction over several titles imported into the country. Since 2014, over 4,000 books have been banned including Victor Hugo’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame and One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez.

Meanwhile, the books being published in Kuwait had to secure an approval from a 12-member committee that met bi-monthly before they could be released.

The books were banned due to several reasons including insulting Islam to "inciting unrest" and committing "immoral" acts, The Guardian noted.

In a recent study by the academics from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Saudi Arabia, it has been found that selective abortion (gender specific) could lead to a decline of 6.3 million female births in India by 2030.

17 of the 29 Indian states were found to be having a preference for a son, specially in Northern India with Uttar Pradesh showing the highest deficit in female births.

This happens despite the fact that in 1994, Indian government passed the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act, making it illegal to reveal the s*x of an unborn child except for strictly medical purposes.

Current men to women ratio in the country stands at 1000:900-930.

Germany's University of Fine Arts in Hamburg will be offering three €1,600 scholarship places to applicants from across Germany. The submissions will be open to students till September 15.

However easy it might sound, the selection won't be a cakewalk. The applicants will have to convince a jury that their chosen area of "active inactivity" is impressive or relevant. They will need to answer just 4 questions in the application form:

1- What do you not want to do?
2- For how long do you not want to do it?
3- Why is it important not to do this thing in particular?
4- Why are you the right person not to do it?

The Guardian quoted Friedrich von Borries, an architect and design theorist who came up with the idea, who said that it is not "a joke but an experiment with serious intentions – how can you turn a society that is structured around achievements and accomplishments on its head?"

A California judge has ordered US President Donald Trump to pay a $44,100 legal fees to adult film actor and director Stormy Daniels.

A clothing line on e-commerce company Amazon was selling T-shirts, tank tops and hoodies with “Joe and the hoe” written in red, white and blue on it, however, its sale has now been halted by the site.

The move came after complaints from Twitter users who branded it “unacceptable” as it referred to Joe Biden's VP pick Kamala Harris.

The tops were on sale for between $24.99 and $42.99.

The phrase was even also adopted by conservative radio host and a friend of incumbent President Donald Trump, Rush Limbaugh.

A huge explosion has taken place near a port in Beirut, Lebanon.
