The Oconee River at Milledgeville peaked at 28.75 feet last night and is now receding. It currently sits at 26.47 feet which is in the MINOR FLOOD STAGE category which includes minor flooding of low lying areas including the Riverwalk areas. The river is expected to return to normal levels by tomorrow.

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING is in effect for Bibb, Jones, Twiggs, Wilkinson & Baldwin counties until 3:15 PM today. Be careful traveling through low lying areas that are prone to flooding during this time.

Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon and evening. An isolated storm in central Georgia could become strong and capable of producing gusty winds.

A Tornado Warning is in effect for Bartow, Gordon & Floyd counties until 3:15 PM. Rotation was observed on radar over the Shannon community and it is moving to the northeast at 65 mph. Locations in the path of this dangerous storm are the Adairsville & Ranger areas.

We are monitoring the potential for a cold front to bring the threat for strong to severe thunderstorms Thursday. A Slight Risk (2 out of 5) exists for portions of far northwest Georgia while a Marginal Risk (1 out of 5) exists for much of western Georgia.

Bad news for those who like to see snow. Most areas will not see much if any accumulation on Sunday as temperatures are expected to remain above freezing. Only those in the mountains could see amounts up to 2 inches.

Gusty winds will increase late tonight and persist into Wednesday, even outside of any showers & storms. Plan for wind gusts up to 40 mph with 50 mph gusts in the mountains, which could down trees, especially with soil being saturated.

Future time lapse of the line of storms that’s forecast to move through tomorrow. It will be in Atlanta around 7 pm and middle Georgia around 10 pm. These storms will contain ALOT of wind and possible tornadoes within it. Also temperatures will be close to 80 tomorrow afternoon so that will build up energy as well
