🫢It’s Shameless Sunday!🫢

This time, it’s of choosing the song he’s unashamed to love - Call Me Maybe by .

It’s a tune for sure. It’s also not the first time Carly’s been shown some love on the podcast. Way back in Episode 7, Dan from the almighty talked about how the whole band went to see her a few years ago and are huge fans.

Once again, Shameless Sunday destroys the stereotype of rock bands and metalheads only enjoying the chugga chugga and the BLEGH. A good song is a good song. End of.

Let's be honest, very few of us thought Hundred Reasons would make music again. Most of us also didn't expect Glorious Sunset to be their best record yet, and easily one of the stand-out rock albums of 2023. No-one thought they'd come on a podcast of such little merit.

Join us as we sit down with bassist Andy Gilmour, pre-release, and take a nostalgia trip through video rental stores, minidisc players, Leeds Festival and Top of the Pops. Internet banking phishing scams, Spotify royalties and, at some point, music are also discussed. Can you imagine.

In one of the greatest moments in music interview history, 5-year-old Logan asks Andy a question which requires him to dig into the very essence of his soul: "Cheese string or Babybel?" An explorative journey into 'active' and 'passive' cheeses then begins.

To warm you up (or turn you off), we chat about mundane superpowers, hangovers and whether patio furniture is an appropriate anniversary present.

Shameless Sunday is back, and this time are at the helm. Firming up our belief that there’s no such thing as a guilty pleasure, Luke and Josh from the band put forward some solid suggestions on this episode for music they love outside of the realms of alternative music.

We’re going with Luke’s choice of I Can’t Help Myself by the Four Tops - a classic Motown hit, and a tune Luke told us he plays on bass to switch things up when practising.

What’s your favourite Motown song? Or, what are you listening to today that doesn’t include pig squeals or breakdowns? Let us know!

Listen now! 🎧 www.linktr.ee/toooldforthispit 🎧

Almost two years ago, Gordon Morison regaled us with rock and roll stories of stolen drumkits, run-ins with Slipknot and revenge-based drinking. The perfect fit for our comeback, it only felt natural to kick off the next phase of TOFTP with one of our most popular guests.

Joining us from beautiful Wales, Gordon discusses being executed in a music video, the Corby trouser press (that's not from Corby) and a gig that was cancelled after half a song when a 'urination error' blew the venue's power. Standard stuff.

Before Gordon joins us, we delve into the thrill rides that are our daily lives. A new vacuum cleaner, making friends with the guy who runs the chippy and the absolute rollercoaster that is owning an air fryer. Tell your friends we're back.

Please do tell them though, we'd appreciate that. Please. Thanks.

Not only are we resurrecting your least favourite podcast but we’re also clogging your feed again every week with our guiltiest pleasures for shameless Sunday, the day where we can all be together in a safe space and talk about the tracks we listen to behind closed doors.

This week I’m going for Scatman John, Scatman (actually is the song called Scatman? Or is that just a proclamation?). And not the studio version, no no, you need to get on YouTube and watch the live version (it’s about 6 minutes long and it’s INCREDIBLE).

And if you so desire, then email and he’ll sort you out with his equally as incredible /Scatman John mashup track which got premiered at last years .

Also why does is the artwork peak nu-metal?

Also, not sure if this has been used for shameless Sunday before but I don’t care, I do what I want just like Scatman John. X

Incoming! We’ve just recorded episodes with .666 of UK metal veterans (because you needed a part two), and Luke and Josh from the incredible, super brutal . We spent at least 11% of each episode talking about music, which is 3% more than usual.

AND we’ve got two more episodes in the works, but we’ll tell you more in good time.

For the musicians among you, we now include the tempo of each episode so you can jam along.

The more intense the episode gets the higher the bpm. This one should probably have been more like 10bpm.

🍋SHAMELESS SUNDAY!🍏

Alright, Graham here and it’s my turn to choose a song that I have zero shame in loving. I’m not choosing a song though, I’m going with a whole album - SOUR by 🔥

, my brother-in-law (and designer of our logo) sent me this a while back and it’s a firm favourite now. Anger, vulnerability and a buffet of pop rock hooks and carefully crafted ballads makes SOUR the ultimate break up record. To top it off, Rodrigo was only 17 when it was released. I was in a band at that age and my lyrics were utter s**te. I could only dream of writing songs this memorable and sticky.

Anyway, if you’re a fellow metalhead who can acknowledge and enjoy music that doesn’t exclusively sound like a dog regurgitating over a looping pneumatic drill, you need to give this a spin. You really won’t regret it.

Shameless Sunday aka hypocrite Sunday.

Why? Because I hate how music went through a phase where everyone used THAT chord progression.

But there are some places where it really worked. In fact Offspring used THAT chord progression in like 90% of their songs and I love those bastards.

Anyway, you guessed it. uses THAT chord progression in ‘Wings’. It just works really well. I don’t know why some songs it pi**es me right off, I think sometimes it can be cheesy…. But used appropriately it can be awesome. Well done Birdy, you are using THAT chord progression in the good way.

Enjoy!

🎉We're back with a new episode!🎉
👇WILL PUTNEY (Fit For An Autopsy, producer)👇

-----
We had babies (well, our wives did) and we're back from our PITernity leave. And what a guest to come back with! Will Putney doesn't really need an introduction, but, just for our parents, he's a guitarist in New Jersey's premier deathcore band Fit For An Autopsy, and has also produced some of the best metal and hardcore records of the last 20 years - including releases from Knocked Loose, Body Count, Terror, Norma Jean, Gojira, Every Time I Die (RIP) and many, many more.
-----
We only had 30 minutes with Will due to his ridiculously tight schedule and there was so much more we'd love to have discussed. Still, we managed to chat about Fit For An Autopsy's incredible new release Oh What The Future Holds, how Will approaches producing his own music versus others, his friendship with Ice T, and, for the first time in aaaages, the Shameless Sunday pick isn't country music!
-----
Before Will jumps on the mic we discuss peanuts, babies, Avril Lavigne, the When We Were Young Festival and some fella in Kieran's town who's now internet famous.
-----
Who runs the world? Girls.

How does a punk band grow and break out of a small town with a tiny scene? In the case of soon-to-return and , rely on the hospitality and love of your local community:

1️⃣Offer up your hometown gig venue as a pit stop for bands passing through on tour

2️⃣ Let them play a show there and make some money

3️⃣ Feed them, shelter them and befriend the s**t out of them

4️⃣ Get your band invited on their big US tours

In the words of Larry David, BIIINGGOOOOOOO

Imagine going from sleeping in a tent to playing with Slipknot and Slayer 🤯

Episode 5 with .666 of is one of our favorites just because of the amazing rock and roll stories from the bands colourful history.

✅Telling Clown from Slipknot to f**k off? Yes.

✅Driving to Spain to find Mudvayne had flown home because they ‘didn’t like Europe? Standard.

✅Taking revenge on your frontman by getting so drunk you can barely play? Absolutely!

Go listen now, you won’t be disappointed! 🎧

“GET YOUR FU***NG MASKS ON NOW!” 😂

Last June we sat down with Sammy () from as gigs and shows were starting to open up again. We only spent an hour with Sammy but we’re low-key jealous of now- he’s probably one of the nicest humans we’ve met.

We spent a good chunk of time chatting total s**t (as we always do), but also discussed the upcoming release of Conquering, hands-down the best British metal album of 2021.

Go back and have a listen, this was so much fun! 🎧

⚡️IT’S SHAMELESS SUNDAY!🤔

Upcoming guest is choosing his favourite guilty pleasure this week. Blaming and his “uncomfortable obsession” with K-Pop, which in turn has him into it, Will’s going with Pretty Savage by . Brendan, sorry to have to drag you into this - we think Will should take full responsibility for this one tbh.

Episode 28 will be out soon everywhere you listen to your podcasts 👊🏼

If you haven’t listened to our 2020 episode with it’s worth your time (but let’s face it, we would say that). While we wanted to spend some time on serious discussion around the absurdity of the ‘positive’ discrimination Serena has experienced as a woman in alternative music, we did also get to chat about garlic mayo, rollercoasters and Halloween. This is a varied one!

We recorded this a few weeks after released their incredible ‘When I Die, Will I Get Better?’

If you haven’t checked out episode 15 with then we suggest doing so immediately, then head down to your local train station, ask to see the manager at the ticket booth and purchase 1 x ticket for the hype train.

Shout out to for giving us a preview of the new record, Oh What The Future Holds, ahead of our chat with this week.

The album drops Friday and, in the interest of providing a succinct reaction, BLOODY HELL. The Sea of Tragic Beasts was one of my favourite records of 2019, and it’s both a relief and a delight to tell you that I think this is every bit as good, if not better.

👋WE’RE BACK AND WE’RE BRINGING WITH US!⚡️DROP A QUESTION FOR HIM BELOW 👇🏼

It’s been a while but we’ve had babies and are (not) fully rested and ready to go again! Our next guest is behind some of the best metal and hardcore albums of our era (including releases by , , , , , and more) and somehow STILL finds the time to play in and **kingend 🤷🏻‍♂️👊🏼

Anyway, we’re chuffed to be back and so hyped to be joined by Will - not least because the new Fit For An Autopsy record drops this week!

It’s your favourite time of the week again! No not the omnibus (is that still a thing?), no no it’s shameless Sunday.

If you’ve been checking our social media recently you’ll know we’ve talked about having newborns more then actual music. Maybe we could branch off into a childcare podcast.

Anyway, is this a guilty pleasure? I don’t know, but it has been sung a LOT in our house recently as it seems to send our daughter right to sleep.

I’m not even gonna suggest listening to it, in fact it felt a bit weird putting it on in the car but once she’s a few months old we can introduce some or something.
