New podcast episode! January 6th with Sherman Tylawsky:

Our story today begins with the topic of the January 6th insurrection. I have only done one episode on this topic, but not directly, only in the respect of the 25th amendment challenge. But now, after months of review and discussions, we have an episode on the topic. The reason why is because new evidence and information was being brought up a lot throughout the months, and there are still some things uncertain. Today I have a special guest joining us today; he has a unique perspective of this day since he was there when it happened. His name is Sherman Tylawsky, a podcaster with the show: Friends & Fellow Citizens. We will talk about how all of this affects the current political and social state of the United States, and how we may be able to improve it for the future. I hope you all enjoy our discussion.

New podcast episode! The U.S. & EU to pause escalations to resolve trade disputes:

On May 17th 2021, United States Trade Representative Katherine Tai, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, and European Commission Executive Vice President Valdis Dombrovski had a virtual meeting in which they discussed the future of US-EU trade relations. According to a joint statement, they “announced the start of discussions to address global steel and aluminum excess capacity. During a virtual meeting last week, the leaders acknowledged the need for effective solutions that preserve our critical industries, and agreed to chart a path that ends the WTO disputes following the U.S. application of tariffs on imports from the EU under section 232.”

How do we use our tools of trade? Is trade beneficial to everyone or just some?
What about our partners and allies: is it best to have free trade with them at all times? If so, what if they affect us badly, do we let that go or should we retaliate with tariffs and sanctions?
Do you think it was the best decision for the US and the EU to de-escalate their differences?

New podcast episode! President Joe Biden raises the Refugee Admissions Cap:

On May 3rd, President Joe Biden revised the U.S. annual refugee admissions cap. He has reviewed the previous levels, which were a historic low, and decided to raise it. According to a White House statement by the president, he said the following: "Today, I am revising the United States’ annual refugee admissions cap to 62,500 for this fiscal year. This erases the historically low number set by the previous administration of 15,000, which did not reflect America’s values as a nation that welcomes and supports refugees."

Does the US have the responsibility of taking in more refugees now, or could it have wait?
Where should our focus be: national security or humanitarian efforts?
How will taking in more refugees, as Biden hopes to propose in the next fiscal year, affect the United States moving forward?

New podcast episode! North Korea Response to Biden:

Our story today begins with North Korea and its response to President Biden’s address to Congress. On April 28th, President Biden made his first address as president to Congress. Here he addressed contemporary issues like the coronavirus pandemic, as well as bills he looks forward to potentially signing if the senate chooses to proceed with them. But we are not here to talk about his speech, but instead one specific part of it. And it will be that part in which we will ask ourselves, what does this mean for the United States? And where do we move forward from here?

What does North Korea’s response mean?
How does this affect the U.S.?
What does President Biden’s approach look like for the future?

New podcast episode! Should Washington, DC become a state?:

On April 22nd, the House of Representative voted 216-208 to pass legislation to make DC the next state in the union. This vote will have challenges moving forward in the Senate, but until that moment, the piece of legislation is historic. This is a push for furthering our nation’s principle of representation and fairness in self-governance. It sounds simple and certain to be pivotal in U.S. politics, however the movement faces legal, political, and social challenges. There is opposition to statehood, and today we will go over what the proponents and opponents say about DC statehood. We’ll talk about the bill and what the push for statehood means, as well as what this would mean for the United States moving forward.

Should Washington, DC become a state?
What are the arguments for and abasing it?
What will this mean for the United States?

New podcast episode! The United States to withdraw troops from Afghanistan:

The Biden administration announced the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan. This is rooted from the Trump administration’s deal with the Taliban to remove troops by May 1st. The Biden administration coming in was observed to see whether or not that commitment will be kept. The promise of removing troops will be kept, however the date will shift from May 1st to September 11th, on the twentieth anniversary of the attack on American soil. This action has brought conversations of proponents and opposition, it has questioned the future of American foreign policy.

Strategically, is this the right decision for the United States?
Where is the United States going after Afghanistan?
Are we going back home and focusing on domestic issues, or are our problems shifting elsewhere?

New podcast episode! President Biden announces Commission to Review the Supreme Court:

The Supreme Court is the highest court in the nation. It is composed of judges that serve to uphold the laws under the Constitution when presented cases. According to Article 3, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution, “The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour, and shall at stated Times, receive for their Services, a Compensation, which shall not be diminished during their Continuance in Office.”
These judges provide a service to the stability of the country, and the integrity of American laws. Nine judges serve on the bench, however that may change soon under the Biden administration. What has been known as “Court Packing” has brought controversial issues in American society. It is important that we understand what these means in today’s society, and how it will impact the United States moving forward.

What is the Commission on the Supreme Court?
How may it improve, or not improve, the Supreme Court?
How will this impact the United States moving forward?

New podcast episode! President Biden announces American Jobs Plan:

Infrastructure is the fundamental structure of any country. I’m talking about your roads, bridges, aqueducts, pipes and energy supplies used to facilitate an economy. It may make or break a country’s economy. The United States has not been prioritizing its own infrastructure, and it comes with much cost in having done so. It is important that we understand what infrastructure means and its importance, but also its cost. Recently, President Biden announced his infrastructure proposal.
*
This proposal is known as the American Jobs Plan. Immediately we can see it is not entirely about infrastructure, but about creating jobs. On March 31st, the White House released the details of the proposal and President Biden announced his plans to the country in pursuit to win the confidence of Americans. So what is in this proposal, and what will it mean for the United States moving forward?

What is the American’s Jobs Plan?
How much is truly about infrastructure?
How will this impact the United States moving forward?

New podcast episode! North Korea Strikes Again:

This week North Korea launched multiple missiles near its neighbor Japan, making a single to the international community that it is still relevant. There were two instances where North Korea launched missiles, it’s first during the Biden administration. The first one happened last weekend, when North Korea tested its short-range cruise missile systems. However, it was not enough to provoke a strong response from the United States. President Joe Biden said that, “according to the Defense Department, it's business as usual, there's no new wrinkle in what they did.” One official said that “we do not believe that it is in our best interests to hype these things and circumstances in which we would consider those activities as part of a “normal” set of a tense military environment like we see on the Korean peninsula.”
*
The second test happened on Thursday March 25th. This test was near the economic zone of Japan, challenging its sovereignty. It was the first test since March 2020. So it has been a year since North Korea’s latest missile test that challenged the international community. Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga condemned Pyongyang's actions and said it “threatens the peace and security of Japan and the region.”

What does this mean?
What is the response from the Biden administration?
Where does it belong on the U.S. list of foreign priorities?

New podcast episode! Biden supports change to Presidential Wars Power Act:

Congress wants to repeal part of the Wars Power Act. President Biden is on board. Congress wants back its power of military oversight.
*
There is frustration with the executive branch from the legislative branch. Congress is frustrated with the President, not just Joe Biden, but his predecessors for their use of the Wars Power Act. There is a strong bipartisan consensus that the President should have more limitations on the power to wage military actions abroad.

Do you agree with Congress?

09/03/2021

I want to explain something important first. If you noticed, we have changed the name of this podcast from the Moderate Voice of America to America’s Moderate Voice. There were two reasons for this change. The first was confusion with other organizations with similar names and interests as our own, so it was important that we further distinguish ourselves to potential listeners. The second reason was seeking improvement. Change is only good as long as it is an improvement, and from a small poll that I conducted “America's Moderate Voice” was a popular title so hopefully this will suit us moving forward. So thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
So moving forward, nothing else changes: same host, same podcast, same purpose. Again, this is America’s Moderate Voice. Here we cover the latest news on United States policies and actions at home and abroad. We are committed to bring all views together and to bring facts into the subject. I don’t intend to put in my own opinion or to spin a story one way or the other. Here, you decide how you want to interpret the story, to analyze facts from all points of views. When we invite guests, we bring in their perspectives, not to persuade your thoughts and opinions, but to have their voice be heard in a transparent, civil discussion. It’ll be my job to bring in opposition or differing views on those subjects when opportunity permits. That is the mission of our show.

New podcast episode! Biden speaks at Munich Conference:

President Joe Biden’s remarks at the 2021 Virtual Munich Security Conference. Here is where President Biden laid out the security issues and concerns of the United States and the world.
*
On February 19th, after the G7 meeting, President Joe Biden was the first to speak at this meeting and he spoke much on the future of the United States. He talked about how “America is back.” This is his distinct policy of international relations, very different from his predecessor President Donald Trump. So what does “America is back” mean? Well it is the reverse of policies from the previous Trump administration, meaning that the United States will reclaim its leadership role in world affairs, shaping its once universally recognized leadership

What do you think of “America is back”?
Should the United States resume its role as leader of global affairs?

New podcast episode! President Joe Biden speaks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu:

Our story today begins with President Joe Biden’s first call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Typically Israel, as one of our closer allies, receives a call right after the inauguration, however, it took President Biden up until last Wednesday February 17th, four weeks later. Nonetheless, this talk means a lot for both leaders.
*
For President Biden it means how will the United States move forward with its relationship with Israel and the situation in the Middle East. For Prime Minister Netanyahu it means preparing a strong campaign ahead of the March 23rd election. But, by the end of the day, they spoke and what they spoke about was regarding national security concerns and the balance of our relationship.

What was Biden’s talk with Netanyahu about?
What does it mean for U.S. national security?
What does it mean for U.S. foreign policy?
