Be responsible don't provide Wifi/ Hotspot to strangers Urges Police

Says it May Attract Legal Action

Srinagar, July 04:(GNS) Police on Monday urged Internet users of District Budgam not to provide Wifi or hotspot connection to strangers as it may land them in legal action against them.

In a statement to GNS, the police said that criminals and subversive elements are using wifi and hotspot of others to communicate with eachother and indulge into subversive activities. Netizens of Budgam are advised to act as responsible citizens while using internet and Not to provide wifi /hotspot connection to strangers otherwise
action under law shall be taken against them if found to be an act of communication for subversive activities.

The police spokesman further stated that it is also requested to all Internet users to Keep hotspots or wifi with strong passwords and change passwords frequently, reads the statement.(GNS)

Minor Girl Killed, Her Father and Grandfather Injured As Brick Wall Collapses in Shopian

Srinagar, Jul 3 (GNS): A 6-year-old girl was killed, her father and grandfather sustained injuries after a brick wall collapsed in Imam Sahib area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district this afternoon.

An official told GNS that one Zainab Jabbar, her father Abdul Jabbar and her grandfather Ghulam Nabi Malla came under a falling brick wall in Manihal Chotipora of Imamsahib. In the incident, the official said the minor girl died instantly and the two other male members with injuries were taken to a nearby health facility for treatment.

Confirming the incident, a police official told GNS that cognizance of the incident has been taken. (GNS)

Man shot at, injured in Shopian

=>A local civilian was fired upon my unknown gunmen suspected to be militants on Wednesday evening in Chidren Ahgan Shopian area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

A top Police officer told GNS that a local namely Farooq Ahmad resident of Chidren was fired upon by militants this evening in Chidren area.

He was immediately shifted to nearby hospital for treatment.

Soon after the attack whole area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers. More details will follow soon.(GNS)

DPS Srinagar student earns full scholarship at Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, Qatar

Srinagar, CNS,01-June: Tashafee Masoodi - a Grade 12 student from Delhi Public School Srinagar, has earned an admission and full scholarship worth 70,000 dollars (About 51 lakh rupees) at the prestigious Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar.

The 18-year-old Tashafee, a student of Humanities has been offered a place at the university to pursue her Bachelor’s in Foreign Services with a major in Culture and Politics. She credits her success to her family and her teachers at DPS Srinagar.

She said, “I am indebted to the Career Guidance Department of the school, which helped me with all the documents needed to be submitted including transcripts, recommendation letters and regular time to time guidance and counseling. Our Career Coach ensured that everything was submitted on time.”

Congratulating the student, the Principal, Shafaq Afshan said, “Every year, DPS Srinagar students get admissions and scholarships in the top universities across India and in foreign Colleges and Universities. Woman shot at dead in Kulgam

Srinagar, May 31:(GNS) A Migrant teacher was shot dead by unknowns gunmen suspected to be militants in Gopalpora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday.

A top police officer told GNS that a migrant woman by profession teacher was fired upon by militants in Gopalpora.

A senior doctor at DH Kulgam told GNS that the woman was brought dead to the facility.

Soon after the attack whole area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.(GNS)

Three Militants, Cop Killed in Baramulla Gunfight: IGP Kashmir

Srinagar, May 25: Three Pakistani militants and a cop was killed in a fierce gunfight in Kreeri area of North Kashmir's Baramulla district on Wednesday, officials said.

439 militants eliminated in J-K after Article 370 abrogation: MoS Home Nityanand Rai

New Delhi, February 2: As many as 439 militants have been eliminated in Jammu and Kashmir so far after the abrogation of Article 370 while 541 militancy-related incidents have been registered in the Union Territory, Minister of State for Home affairs Nityanand Rai on Wednesday informed Rajya Sabha.

Rai, in a written reply to Rajya Sabha MP Neeraj Dangi, said, "541 militant incidents while 439 militants eliminated and 98 civilians who lost their lives and 109 Security Forces (SFs) killed in Jammu and Kashmir after the repeal of Article 370 post-August 5, 2019 till January 26, 2022."

The MoS Home further informed the Upper House that during these incidents, no significant public property has been damaged. "However, damages to private property of Rs. 5.3 crore approximately have been assessed," he said.

The 2022 Budget Session of the Parliament commenced on January 31 with President Ram Nath Kovind's address. The first part of the budget session is being held from January 31 to February 11 and the second part will take place from March 14 to April 8.–(ANI)

Shopian Gunfight: Militant killed, ops on

Shopian, Feb 02 (KNO): A militant has been killed in an ongoing gunfight between the forces and militants in Nadigam area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district, officials said on Wednesday.

A senior police officer told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that an unidentified militant has been killed, whose identification is being ascertained while the operation is on in the area.

Earlier, an official said that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering a gunfight—(KNO)

Encounter Breaks out in South Kashmir Shopian Village

Shopian, Jan 22 : Encounter broke out between militants and joint forces at Kilbal village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday, officials said.

An official told news agency Kashmir News Trust that a joint team of Police, 34RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

He said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, militants fired upon them which was retaliated triggering an encounter.

A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of fire between forces and militants.

As per the sources, one to two militants are believed to be trapped in the village. (KNT)

Hyderpora encounter: Bodies of civilians to be handed over to families tonight

Srinagar, Nov 19, KDC: The bodies of the civilians killed in Hyderpora encounter will likely be handed over to their families tonight as legal formalities for their exhumation has completed

Sources confirmed to Srinagar based news agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that police and administrative officials concerned in Handwara are exhuming the bodies from the graves in Waderbala where police had buried them.

Sources said “The bodies of Altaf Ahmad, a resident of Barzulla and Dr Mudasir Gul, a resident of Rawalpora will be handed over tonight and only close family members will be allowed to perform last rites”

However, there was no confirmation about the body of the slain Amir from Ramban, they said.

The families of civilians are demanding bodies for performing last rites.

A controversy had erupted over Monday’s encounter in Hyderopra following conflicting claims about the three deceased civilians as their family members contested the police’s charge that they were “terror associates”.
National Conference, PDP, PC protested today demanding families be given the bodies for burial.

LG Manoj Sinha has ordered magisterial inquiry by ADM Srinagar into the encounter.

Pertinently, Police said that in the (encounter) one Pakistani militant and his two associates and a civilian were killed. (KDC)
