Mix Week Day 5 - Punk.
It's the finale of Mix Week and we round it off with a Punk track, Sleep By The Fire by Forkupines!
A very middle of the road mix if that makes any sense. Session had pretty much the bare minimum for the genre with no other bells and whistles attached to it.
Overall, this has been a good experience. I've mixed genres that I wouldn't given much thought to mixing otherwise.
Hope you've liked what I've done this week!

Day 4 of Mix Week and it's Reggae with Run Run Run by Arise.
Quite pleased with this one and I reckon this may end up being my favourite of this whole challenge. Didn't really come up against many big hurdles in this one compared to yesterdays, this was a much smaller session to work with which helped in that respect.
Today's the penultimate track in the Mix Week with the finale being Punk tomorrow so make sure to tune in for that.

The penultimate day of Mix Week and it's a bit of Reggae this time. Make sure to come in tomorrow for the finale for Punk!

Day Three of Mix Week and it's Singer-Songwriter.
This was a tough one to mix. Lots of elements I needed to make sound as good as I could which was a great challenge to do. But I think I done good with it.

Day Two of the Mix Week and today is an electronica number, Do Not Stand by Carol Dant.
Track is on the simpler side with not many instrumental/vocal elements within it but enough for me to give it the works. Primarily added some reverbs' and delays to vocals and synths for some added space.
See you tomorrow for Singer-Songwriter which is looking VERY opposite to this in terms of workload so this one's going to be a fun challenge.

Day 2 of the Mix Week and today is an electronica number. Tomorrow is Singer-Songwriter!

Day One of Mix Week and we start off smoothly with a Jazz track by The Abletons Big Band, Song of India.
First time I've ever mixed a Jazz track and it was good to stretch out off my comfort zone a bit and had to approach things much differently than usual.
Hope it sounds good to you lot and tune in tomorrow for some electronica.

Going to do something fun next week.
Starting tomorrow I'm going to mix a different song per day up to Friday, each track being of a different genre that I've randomly picked.
They are as follows: Jazz, Electronica, Singer-Songwriter, Reggae and Punk.
I've already picked out the tracks for each and from the brief excerpts I've heard of them they're sounding pretty damn good.
Excited to get stuck into this.

Decided earlier to do a quick mix of a metal song I found the multitrack for to keep my mixing chops up and ended up doing one of the best mixes of anything I've ever done.

4 months ago today I released my first ever album.
Written and recorded in 11 and a half hours and fully mixed in a further 6 or 7 and is something I'm immensely proud of. It will always hold a secure place in my heart regardless of the flaws I see in it.
Perhaps I should get round to making another in the future.

Here are the projects that I have been part of in the past year for those who want to see my experience (have a portfolio of song mixing and mastering on my Fiverr).
The 45 Showcast (https://open.spotify.com/show/7Iq5dmF59vK8EJxUGBF0gb?si=c_ViXKxbTretgjqRrB9Vwg): This was the first project I got involved in, it was podcast that was interviews with bands predominantly from the Glasgow area. I was brought on to edited and mixed them from episode 30 up to when the show folded.
The News Where You Aren't (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4MW-gY4NSk3zUttnVYZoFyPO7eDbCIyE): After The 45 Show ran its course, I was approached by Eden Luke McIntyre to do an audio satire news show. I was brought on to edit and add SFX to it. I worked on the main 4 episodes of the series.
Commitment Issues (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lCtws66-Vk): Eden then contacted me a few months later about working another thing he wrote and recorded called Commitment Issues. It's a short dark comedy where my role was similar to the project above.
