The Documentary
THAT NEVER HAPPENED reveals the story of Canada's first national internment operations between 1914 - 1920, when over 88,000 people were forced to register and more than 8,500 were wrongfully imprisoned in concentration camps across Canada, not for anything they had done but because of where they came from. In 1954 the public records were destroyed, and in the 1980s a few brave men and women began working to reclaim this chapter in history and ensure future generations would know about it.

Sending cameras to Ukraine

Today we are packing up 2 Cameras that are ready to shoot and send to Ukraine. If anyone has a Camera with media and zoom lens that they are willing to send please let me know. If you are sending first aid supplies etc. to Ukraine here is a direct request for items needed on the ground.

Requests from Ukraine: powerbank for the phone, first aid kits, knee pads and military gloves that protect against abrasions

Cameras 🎥

We need video cameras. If you have a camera or a company that sells cameras we are being asked by Ukrainian’s on the ground for ready to shoot kits of any type. Swappable lenses are ideal, media, batteries etc. Cinema cameras are the dream. New cameras, used cameras, refurbished cameras. If they work we need them.

Not all battles are fought with guns. There are many film makers on the front lines working as fixers for international news crews and others taking up arms.

I have been told by one camera assistant on the ground fighting for Ukraine “If I die let me die with a camera in my hand”

I have contacted
Sony Electronics
Blackmagic Design
Canon Canada
RED Digital Cinema

Now I ask for the support of the film community and the community at large to help us get cameras to Ukraine. We can not wait we need to start sending them now.

Please like and share this post to help us get this done. If you can help please message me directly.

THIS SUNDAY from 1-2pm EST join us for our upcoming Industry Summit panel discussion Local Goes Global: Co-Producing with Ukraine! 🎬

***PLEASE NOTE THE TIME CHANGE from Thursday at 7:30pm to Sunday at 1pm ⏰

For Canadian filmmakers, engaging in the global marketplace has become increasingly popular, more viable, and essential to a properly monetized business and funding plan. Telefilm Canada co-production treaties include a funding model that allows Canadian filmmakers to take local and national stories to a world audience. In 2019 Telefilm Canada added The Ukraine to the list of just under sixty coproduction partners. Canadian filmmaker Ryan Boyko, along with Philip Illienko, hopes to be one of the first to engage with Telefilm’s Ukraine Treaty coproduction programme. This panel is designed to help intermediate to experienced filmmakers who are new to the coproduction process, or experienced filmmakers who want to co-produce with the Ukraine.

Moderator: Olffi coproduction specialist and French filmmaker Ilann Girard (Cunningham, A Final Portrait). Panelists include award-winning Canadian Filmmaker Ryan Boyko (That Never Happened). Ryan hopes to be one of the first to use the new coproduction treaty); Ukrainian Producer Philip Illienko ( former head of The Ukrainian state film agency, also wrote the treaty on behalf of Ukraine and working with Ryan Boyko), and a representative from Telefilm TBC.
