Sounds of "ch"
In English, ch is most commonly pronounced as [tʃ], as in chalk, cheese, cherry, church, much, etc. When it represents [tʃ] word-medially or word-finally, it usually follows a consonant (belch, lunch, torch, etc.) or two vowels (beach, speech, touch, etc.).
Medical terms and religious terms are often borrowed from Greek, where ch stands for K, so Christmas and chiropractor and stomach have the k sound. Fashion and food terms are often borrowed from French, so ch has the sh sound, so champagne and chenille are SH.
