IT'S HERE! The Pickford Film Center project.
The forecast called for rain at 5:01PM on 1/12/22, right at the start of our night shoot. But instead it started to pour at 4:46 - and it didn't let up for 9 hours until after we wrapped at 1:00AM in the morning. We were soaked, we were cold, but we also knew we had been involved iin something special for an organization we truly believe in.
We took a diferent approach for this fundraising film. Let us know what you think:

Poor Liam Bateman. Heâs been living a trial by fire ever since he started here at Moment. One minute, heâs being asked to composite out sandbags from a moving shot, the next heâs being asked to design cool graphics and spearhead social media, the next he has to archive 8 years worth of messy footage, the list goes on and on. So when we asked him to elegantly add classic movies to the sides of buildings in downtown Bellingham - all he did was smile and get 'er done. Check out the video.
Yes, a lot of this was shot practically, with real images being projected on real buildings in real time (and very rainy weather ha ha), but it was Liamâs visual expertise that really helped make it all happen.

For a project like the Pickford Fundraising film (from script to screen in less than 40 days),collaboration was more important than ever. By working with the Pickford Film Center team, we were able to quickly land on an initial concept that spoke to both the power of film and why the theaterâs expansion is so important to the community.
Now we just needed to pray to the Weather Gods (the old and the new) #fingerscrossed. #norain
Here are some story board images and the corresponding shots of what ended up in the film. As Ben Franklin likes to say âIf you fail to plan, you plan to fail.â

A lot of great people to thank on this one - so please go check out the credits on the latest work we produced for the Washington Safety Traffic Commission. Special hat tip to agency C+C - who made it all possible - and Creative Director/Writer Wyatt Curtiss and producer Camille Adams. This TV spot was creatively challenging and really got our wheels turning, which is what made it fun. Check it:

Our old pal Ben Franklin used to tell us that 'If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.' He would usually say this right before he headed over to the craft service table, and we always took it to heart.
That's why for our spot for the Washington Traffic Safety Commission and agency extraordinaire C+C (which came up with the killer creative), we tried to dial everything in long before shoot day. Schedules, bikes, cars, pedestrians, trucks, kids, it all had to be choreographed pretty tightly for the single 'one-shot' we'd planned. So one of the things we did (among many) was create this animatic, which helped us visualize how it all might look.
Keep your eyes on this space. The real spot is dropping tomorrow!

One of the coolest film festivals around has to be Bleedingham - which is celebrating 10 years of a most horrifying existence. The work done to build the Bellingham film community by Gary Washington, Langley J. West and Michelle Barklind is the stuff of legend, and we are honored to have a film make the cut this year. The trailer for Maslow drops Monday.

Advice for First Time Filmmakers #1
Stop the Presses: Today marks the first day for submissions to our very own Small Time Film Festival. Over the next two weeks, we'll be posting some advice from Seattle and Bellingham filmmakers. Our first filmmaker is Peter Edlund, who's written and directed some incredible award winning short films including "Mixtape Marauders" and "New West." We hope you all enjoy these - and don't forget deadline for entries is 4/30/21.
