On those days when you miss someone the most, as though your memories are sharp enough to slice through skin and bone, remember how they loved you.

Remember how they loved you and do that, for yourself.

In their name, in their honour.

Love yourself, as they loved you.

They would like that.

On those days when you miss someone the most,

love yourself harder.

On this day of Thanksgiving, there may be a seat at the table that is empty. And it can be incredibly painful. It’s ok to feel sorrow and grief during a holiday. It’s ok to feel grief and joy at the same time, too, however not necessary. If you care to, share your loved ones name who is missing from your table this year. ❤️🙏🏻🕊️🦃🍁😢😪

This is such a great article if you’re curious about Hospice and Palliative care for end of life support…whether the support be for the person dying or the caregivers.
There can be confusion and stigmas around hospice and/or palliative care. For instance, hospice does not assist people in dying as I’ve heard some people express that fear. Hospice is an organization for support and comfort care during the dying process.
Let’s start a conversation here if you’re interested. I’ve been present with loved ones who were under hospice care and I have also volunteered with hospice for two years. I’m not an expert, but we can find answers together to any questions or concerns.

This body is not me.
I am not limited by this body.
I am life without boundaries.
I have never been born,
and I have never died.

Look at the ocean and the sky filled with stars,
manifestations from my wondrous true mind.

Since before time, I have been free.
Birth and death are only doors through which we pass,
sacred thresholds on our journey.
Birth and death are a game of hide- and seek.

So laugh with me,
hold my hand,
let us say good-bye,
say good-bye, to meet again soon.

We meet today.
We will meet again tomorrow.
We will meet at the source every moment.
We meet each other in all forms of life.

~Thich Nhat Hanh

Good afternoon! New episode of Mortality and Tea available on iTunes and YouTube. This is a show where we discuss our own death experience in hopes we can find a more rich and juicy life.
Today’s episode I’m honored to have Nate Johnson as the guest.

Nate was born and raised in Germantown, OH. He had a small family with his mother, father, himself and his brother who is three years his junior. It's a small town so it was a small town upbringing. He was a Boy Scout and earned his Eagle, he played football and did theater.
After high school he joined the Navy and was trained as a nuclear reactor operator. He volunteered for submarines and that was, according to Nate, probably the best decision he made while he was in. After 6 years though, he had had enough of the ridiculous operations schedule and very little down time so he got out. Thank you for your service, Nate!
He moved back to Germantown for about a year and helped his dad take care of his mom. She had multiple sclerosis so it was a big job for his father. He and his family talked about it and his father said Nate should keep moving forward, so he moved to Columbus and shared an apartment with a very good friend of his who was also recently out of the Navy. While in Columbus he turned his lifelong passion for computer repair into a vocation.
After about a year in Columbus he moved to Pennsylvania and was there for thirteen years. According to Nate, a lot happened in Altoona. “It's quite a list, but nothing that other people haven't done. New jobs, weddings, births, graduations, funerals, ceremonies, championships and commiserations, friends and enemies. All good stories have an end, though and a divorce was the end of that chapter for me. I moved back to the Miami Valley when I had fulfilled all of my obligations in PA and, at my employers insistence, continued my job in Altoona via remote management and a quarterly visit.
These days I'm remarried and, honestly, happier than I have ever been. I have no regrets and no complaints and I love my friends and the life that Kate [current wife] and I have built together.”

This episode is rich with love. Enjoy. ⚰️💀☕️❤️
