I’m starting to wonder where some of these repeatedly shared, problematic memes that spark gender wars originate from. Then I get curious about the purpose, impact and outcome in our online spaces. I notice a bunch of hot takes but wonder if there will ever be links or resources for folks that can use mental health or other supports. The research shows that social media posts can have triggering effects on our emotions while altering states of mind in harmful ways. While I can’t pinpoint where the memes with polarizing scenarios originate, I can deduce that the intent was not to unify or support. But then again, that may be the point. Don’t mind me though I’m just analyzing what I see across a multitude of social media sites. Working to build community and systems and emotional intelligence is what I do for a living and so I look at it from a different perspective. With all of that being said, how do we think our kids are navigating this space? 🤔
