Independence Day Weekend And The New Mandatory Mask Order!

July 3rd, 2020

The new mandatory mask order given by Dr. Levine and Gov. Wolf is now in effect. But does that mean you need to wear a mask while walking down the sidewalk? The short answer is No!

Mandatory masks are only mandatory if you are in any of the following situations:

- Outside of your home & Unable to maintain the recommended six foot social distance.

- Inside any location that deals with the general public.

- Any use of public transport or Uber/Lyft taxi etc. ect.

- While Visiting any healthcare facility to include clinics, hospitals, and pharmacies.

- While working and engaging with other members of the public from outside of your home!

While the mainstream media continues to talk rising numbers and record highs we want to bring you facts and let you decide for yourself. What the Mainstream doesn’t mention is the increase in overall tests. Meaning cases aren’t on the rise per se or getting lower. Per capita the numbers have remained the same per testing.

The graphs below are from John Hopkins university showing the number of tests vs the number of positive cases! As you can see positive cases have remained mostly flatlined, vs the increase in testing!

While we want everyone to have a safe and happy Independence Day celebrating the freedom and founding of our great country, we also want you to be healthy, please wear a mask if you’re going to be around the general public this weekend!

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY LANCASTER!

Stoop Kids of Lancaster Help Feed The Homeless!

July 1st, 2020

Micky from Mickys Mission of Hope, has had a helping hand in feeding the homeless for the last week!

The silent protestors who assemble daily at the stoop of The Pennsylvania College of art and design, also known as have been helping Micky feed the homeless for the last week and plan to continue to do so for the near future.

I stopped down today to help out and get some pictures of Micky and the protestors working together, it was quite a pleasant experience seeing the smiles and excitement it brings to the homeless while we are there!

Both movements are important for our community, feeding those in need and bringing awareness to police brutality in America!

Lancaster Central Market Re-opens!

June 27th, 2020

The oldest Farmers market in the United States reopened this weekend for the first time since covid hit. I stopped in to get some pictures and spoke to Mary about post covid operating procedures and policy!

According to Mary the market is running at a 80-90 person capacity with monitors always watching to ensure social distance rules are followed. “There are X’s on the floor to keep distance but it’s impossible to always maintain that 6 foot distance so we just try to ensure people are not congregating in large groups and maintaining as much space as possible” masks are mandatory as well!

The market is still running its normal business hours (Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday) from 6AM to 2PM. Although there is discussion about extending hours until 4PM but there were some concerns over the heat and masks during the summer months!

Mary was also proud to say there has been no loss in vendors!

Ending The Stigma Of Mental Health One Event At A Time

June 27th, 2020

Today I went out to meet up with another fantastic and inspiring individual from our community. Miss Jenna Martorana was crowned Miss Liberty Bell in 2018 and Miss Red rose.

Jenna uses her platform to speak to her fellow peers on issues and the stigma associated with mental health. Jenna partnered up with Nami.org to speak at events across Pennsylvania in cities like Lancaster, York, and Philadelphia with her peers to let them know they are not alone in their struggles and that it helps to talk to others and share your story. Jenna also gives resources available for those struggling!

I asked Jenna if there was one thing she could say to my viewers what it would it be? She responded “that it’s okay, to not be okay, don’t be afraid to reach out”

Jenna aspires to go to the National Miss America competition and use that platform to further spread the message.

If you or someone you know is struggling don’t be afraid to reach out, there are people and resources available to help you. Check out Nami.org to find out more!

Hey everyone, I’m still looking for good fluff stories! Message me if you know of someone in the community who goes above and beyond in helping in anyway. Could be with kids, could be the homeless, could be addiction, just someone who does something good within our community that deserves to be recognized! Thanks y’all ~ Chris

Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post 1690 of Lancaster prepares for green phase Re-opening!

June 19th, 2020

Governor wolf announced early today that Lancaster and many other counties will be moving into green phase on Friday June 26th.

Speaking to the commander of our local VFW “Mark Giblin (USMC)” he stated that many of the veterans and boards members are eager to get back to normal business and events! “We had to cancel our annual spring chicken BBQ, as well as our normal Memorial Day Services for the public at penn square, we may still hold a ceremony at a later date to honor the sacrifices of those who gave their lives in defense our nation. We are still discussing future events and how they will be conducted in compliance with the laws and policy to ease the spread of the covid-19 virus!”

The Peaceful Protest Of Police Brutality In America Continues In Lancaster City.

June 18th, 2020

I went out again today to once again meet up with and get some footage of the protests here in Lancaster. While there I was able to get some great pictures of what has been happening with the protests.

Community organizer Carlos says “we will be here everyday, from 11-7, if we’re not here, we are a still somewhere here”.

A lot of the changes I see being inquired about are things like; anti racism training, expending all other options to subdue a suspect before using lethal force, de-militarizing the police, seeing the police held to the same standard of accountability as our Military, seeing police back out in the streets on bikes and walking the beat, having our police force involved back into the community, and ending qualified immunity among a slew of others!

Mayor Sorace created and backed a proposal to begin bi-annual anti racial training for all government employees, and to change the use of force tactics to expend all non lethal means of subduing an individual before resorting to lethal force!

More information can be seen in our video about the press conference on June 5th.

“Helping The Homeless One Day At A Time”

June 17th, 2020

Today, I went out to meet up with a great and inspiring individual. Michelle (Micky) Ulearey of Lancaster, has been helping the homeless, and at risk families for over 20 years in Lancaster.

For over 15 years Micky volunteered at food banks, careers centers, and veterans assistance programs. However these past six years, Micky has been more focused on the homeless at Binns Park on Queen st.

I had the opportunity to sit with Micky and talk a little about why she does what she does.

“When my husband passed away, my family and I needed all the help we could get, and we got it, I was so thankful For that, that I always said I would pay it forward, and so I do. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I bring the food, clothing, blankets, and hygiene products that’s are donated to our organization, down to Binns park to distribute the items amongst those in need. We also try to find work, and housing for those we can. After We distribute donated items I like to sit and talk with the people, and listen to their stories, as well as try to reconnect them with family when possible. I do this all out of love and compassion, and I know they appreciate what we do because when the people there see me they always have a smile on their face and are excited to see me”.

I spoke with Micky about donations and how others could get involved to help out. She told me if you join the group linked below (Micky’s Mission Of Hope), there are posts of dates and times where items can be donated in person and in public, or monetary donations can be made at http://paypal.me/MelLancastercountyPA?fbclid=IwAR3BinzUhMi892Yti_RWms7mg5Y0LcvQXteXlsMTaems9tM9c9osGFIG9xQ

*Viewer supplied footage of today’s fire: credit to Ross!

Here’s what we know so far:

Around 1400 hrs today, a fire broke out in the 600 block of Rockland St.

At one point three occupants were trapped between being on the 3rd floor and the roof. One occupant jumped from the structure and was rushed to the hospital. The other two occupants were rescued by firefighters and sent to the hospital.

The fire has been extinguished as well as gas and utilities have been cut off to the residence. Firefighters expect to remain on scene looking for hotspots or rekindle.

Our thoughts go out to the victims during this time. We hope for a speedy recovery and safety for all involved.

When we learn of donation points for the family we will publish them here. Thanks for staying tuned!

Lancaster Officially Moves Into Yellow Phase.

This morning Governor Wolf allowed Lancaster to officially move into the yellow phase in the fight against covid-19. Leaving many to question what does this mean for them, and their local community.

Here’s what we know:

-Social gatherings can now have up to 25 people if you choose to gather, however it is still recommended that you keep within your own household as the best safeguard.

-Restaurants and bars can open for outdoor seated dining and services only, inside service remains closed to the public.

-In person retail shopping is allowed, however curbside pickup or home delivery is still recommended as the safest option.

- Child care, and summer camps for children are now available.

What’s Still Restricted:

-Hair salons/Barbers/Nail Salons

-Gyms and Spas

-Massage Therapy

-Entertainment Venues (ex. Movie theatre, Casinos)
