Long time no see ladies! As most of you know there have been a couple of babies added to the Modest & Honest crew ☺️ Life got a little chaotic for a moment so I stepped back from posting. But I’m so excited to say there will be a season 3 of the podcast this fall! I don’t have a date yet but I hope you’ll rejoin us for the new season 😊

Unfortunately in today’s world sometimes we as Christians pass up an opportunity to teach someone based on the fear of offending them. But sometimes pricking them in their hearts may be just what it takes to get them going in the right direction. The world has made sinning acceptable behavior. That it is ok to do and live however you want to. But that is not what the Bible says. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 says “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters. Nor adulterers, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortionists, shall inherit the kingdom of God.” James 4:4 says “Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with god? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” No one is perfect but we are to try our best to live how God would have us to live so we can spend eternity in Heaven with Him. We are to pray, repent, and ask for forgiveness when we fail Him.

Have you ever wondered if you were born in the wrong generation? Do you idealize parts of previous time periods that you wish were still around? I have found myself in that mindset on multiple occasions, especially when it seems like the world is going in the wrong direction. I have to constantly remind myself that my life in today’s world serves a specific purpose. Looking into the book of Esther, we find a woman in an unfortunate circumstance - she is a Jew married to the king who has just signed a decree that all Jews will be slaughtered. When Esther hears this news, she does not want to confront the situation head on, but instead wants to sit in the background, for no one could go to the king unless he called for them. However, her uncle reminds her in Esther 4:14 “For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” Esther was convinced to meet with the king in an attempt to save her people. The king listened to her and the Jews were delivered from utter destruction. When I start feeling out of place in todays society, I ask myself “What if I am here now for a time such as this?” God will use me in this present day to serve Him and bring people to His kingdom. Speak up with truth and love. Stay focused on the eternal crown rather than fearing the present unknowns.

Hey friends! We were attending a gospel meeting last night so I did not hop on live. If you watched Friday night’s episode, you know we talked about the plan of salvation. We called it “Back to the Basics” because for us it’s as simple as reading verses and obeying God. But for others, it’s something that is debatable. Are we naive enough though to think that the same God we read about in the Old Testament is ok with whatever WE choose to give Him. This is the same God that gave very strict directions for sacrifices. Also, people died for disobeying Him. We like to focus on the merciful part of God and think that he’ll accept whatever we feel like He deserves. But the merciful part of God is what sent His son to offer us a way of salvation. He loves us and He is merciful. But He is also God and expects His commandments to be followed.

Have you ever been in a situation that you needed help with something but you didn’t know who to call? Or maybe something has happened and you find that talking about it with trusted people brings you comfort. When we need help, both big or small, it helps ease our mind knowing we at least have someone we can call. One of the many perks of Christianity is that we can pray to God at any moment. When it comes to prayer we tend to focus on 1 Thessalonians 5:17 which tells us to pray without ceasing. While it’s important to remind ourselves to continually pray to God, it’s also important to just appreciate the opportunity of prayer. Let’s think for a second about who we’re praying to. When we pray we are praying to God, who is the creator of all things (Genesis 1:1). The one that created the world listens to our prayers. Let that sink in for a minute. We all have that list of celebrities we would really like to meet one day. Imagine if you got to meet and talk with your top celebrity, how humble and appreciative you would be. If we have that attitude towards our prayers to God, it will help us develop a better relationship with Him through prayer. We might even look forward to it more often. Appreciation goes a long way in a relationship. Do we appreciate God and our blessing of prayer?

Good Evening Ladies! Happy Friday!!! How has your week been going so far?!?

The book of Luke documents the perfect humanity of the Son of Man, Jesus Christ. As you study through the book of Luke, you will read about Jesus’ ancestry, birth, early life, and earthly ministry. You will also study about those who believe in Jesus Christ and then those who
oppose him.

Luke Chapter 22 accounts the meal Jesus
was having with his disciples. Luke 22:15-16 states, “Then He said to them, “With fervent desire I have desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; for I say to you, I will no longer eat of it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.” He then goes on to partake of the bread and tells His disciples, “This is My body which is
given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” (Luke 22:19). He also partakes of the cup and tells His disciples, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is shed for you.” (Luke 22:20). It’s at this meal that Jesus tells His disciples that the one who betrays Him is sitting at the
table. The disciples began to question among themselves as to which one of them is the betrayer. (Luke 22:21-23). Peter makes statements to Jesus that he is ready to go with Him to both prison
and to death (Luke 22:33). Luke 22:34 reads, “Then He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me.” Jesus knew Peter was going to deny knowing Him. Luke 22:48 states, “But Jesus said to him, “Judas are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?” Again, Jesus knew that Judas would betray Him. A continued study through Luke 22 accounts Peter denying Jesus three times before the rooster crowed as well as Judas betraying Him with a kiss. Jesus is then arrested, mocked, and beaten.

Again, Jesus knew all that would happen to Him as God had planned. Jesus continued to have a positive attitude when He knew betrayal from His friends (disciples) was going to occur. Still, He continued to trust God and informed His disciples that He would have a kingdom for those who were true to Him (Luke 22:29-30). Even at the most difficult and most stressful time of His life, when His closest friends were nowhere to be found, and He faced certain death; Jesus
kept His eyes on His father. Jesus trusted that His father would see Him through to the end. When we also face those moments in life where we feel the most alone in the hardest times, we must also keep our eyes on our heavenly father who, if we remain faithful, will also see us
through to the end.

This morning as I was dressing Marissa for daycare I put her in a shirt that says “Only talking to Jesus today.” Which is cute for toddlers because we know there are days they definitely don’t want to talk or listen to us. I’ve been thinking about Jesus a lot today and instead of only talking to Him, I wanted to talk to you about Jesus. Who is Jesus? Jesus is the one that loves me more than any person on this Earth, even my husband although I know he loves me dearly. In this world there will be a lot of people that will pretend to care about us, but sometimes it’s not genuine or real. Jesus’ love however, is not something we ever have to doubt. How amazing is that? Jesus is also the savior of the world (John 4:42, 1 John 4:14). Jesus came to save me and everyone else from being lost in our sin (Luke 19:10). I also like to think of Jesus as dedicated and passionate. He knew what His purpose was and it was taken seriously, even as a young boy. In Luke 2 we read of Jesus staying behind in the temple to teach, but Mary and Joseph didn’t know it. When they later found Jesus, Mary asked him “Why have you done this to us? Your father and I have sought you anxiously.” Jesus simply replies by asking “Why did you seek me? Did you not know that I must be about my Father’s business?” (Luke 2:48-49). There are so many inspiring characteristics of Jesus and reasons why I love Him. What are some things you admire about Jesus?

This week we want to know... what are YOU studying in your Bibles right now? Is personal Bible study a habit in your life?

II Timothy 2:15 says, "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." How can one be ready to present themselves to God or know the truth without studying? Personal Bible study and spending time in the word is important for one's spiritual growth.

My little one is struggling this evening so I won’t be going live tonight, but I still wanted to offer a Motivational Monday for all of you heading back to school this week! In Matthew 5:14-16 we read that we are to be to the light of the world and to let our lights shine before others so they can see Christ in us. We as Christians are made to stand out from the world, not blend in. So when it feels like things are getting tough and you’re feeling discouraged remember that this world isn’t meant for us and we’re not meant to fit into the world. We are meant to stand out, let the world see Christ in us, and try to conform the world to God instead of us conforming to the world. Remember that others can always see your light (or lack thereof), especially during difficult times. I hope you all have successful school years and that your lights shine as bright as the sun! ☀️
