SpaceX's unmanned spacecraft Starship, designed to transport astronauts to the moon and beyond, launched into space for the first time on Saturday but was assumed to have failed minutes later.
It was Starship's second test after its first effort to reach space ended in an explosion earlier this year.

The two-stage rocket ship launched from Elon Musk's Starbase launch facility near Boca Chica, Texas, east of Brownsville, on a projected 90-minute uncrewed voyage into space.

If successful, the rocket would have landed in the Pacific Ocean near Hawaii. The rocket's manufacturer anticipates that it will one day be able to complete an hour and a half-long orbit around the planet.

But the two sections of the spaceship separated after around 2.5 minutes of flight. In a short while, SpaceX declared the second stage "lost" after failing to locate a signal.

The company believes the rocket's self-destruction mechanism was activated after the signal was lost.

After 19 years of service, legendary umpire Aleem Dar has retired from the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Elite Panel of Umpires.

During his tenure, Dar officiated in a record 209 Test matches, 211 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 82 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). He was also the first umpire to stand in 100 ODIs and 200 Test matches. Dar's career was marked by numerous awards, including the ICC Umpire of the Year award on three occasions.

His retirement marks the end of an era for cricket umpiring.

Today, Pakistanis are observing the 146th anniversary of the birth of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Father of the Nation, with customary zeal and fervor. Jinnah, sometimes referred to as the Quaid-e-Azam, was a politician, lawyer, and the man who founded Pakistan. Between 1947 to his passing in September 1948, he held the position of Pakistan's first governor-general. Jinnah, who was born on December 25, 1876, in Karachi to a prosperous family, studied law in London at Lincoln's Inn.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged the people to draw inspiration from the Quaid-e-Azam and adhere to his beliefs in order to advance Pakistan's prosperity. The murderer of Bilal, a NED University student who was shot dead during a robbery attempt on Thursday, was captured by Karachi Police on Friday.

At NED University of Engineering and Technology, the victim was a petroleum engineering senior. The snatchers killed 21-year-old Bilal while he was enjoying a cup of tea at a cafe on University Road.

When he refused to give the suspects his personal items and resisted the robbery attempt, lethal gunshots were fired. Witnesses claimed that Bilal even made an unsuccessful attempt to strike the robbers with a chair.

According to the police, the culprit was taken into custody at Mauripur. They claimed that the suspect was a "seasoned felon" who had already served time in jail.

Later that evening, Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police Javed Alam Odho spoke to the media during a news conference and informed them that the main suspect's accomplice had already been found and was being sought after.

The IG further stated that CCTV video assisted in the capture of the offender. According to him, the detained suspect is a 16-year-old Tajik Afghan.

He said that Aziz, a close friend of the suspect, had been a part of the police investigation into the street gang's activities.

Ishaq Dar, the finance minister, declared on Thursday that the price of gasoline and diesel would each be reduced by Rs10.

"After midnight, the price of gasoline will drop by Rs10 to Rs214.8, according to our calculations. High-speed diesel will now cost Rs227.80 instead of Rs7.5, he said.

Dar reported that the price of kerosene oil has decreased by Rs 10 to Rs 171.38 and that the cost of light diesel oil has decreased by Rs 10 to Rs 169 per litre.

At midnight tonight, the price reduction will become effective.
