SERIES 4 is here !!!!

We have some incredible guests lined up for you over the coming weeks. I'm so delighted to be back, chatting into the microphone and engaging with more superb Brand owners and inspirational people connected with the industry.

This week I'm delighted to bring you a conversation with Eva Engelen & Lander Desmedt from the truly circular Fashion Brand, HNST (pronounced Honest).

Cotton is often called a thirsty crop, for which inefficient farming and irrigation techniques are to blame. A conventional pair of jeans requires on average 3 kg of raw cotton and consequentially, 7000 litres of water. HNST jeans contain 56% recycled cotton, 23% Greek cotton and 21% Tencel.

As a result they only require 361 litres of water per pair, which means we are reducing water consumption with 95%, compared with industry standards. 💧

The team at HNST are working extremely hard, trying to create a Denim based collection as sustainable and as circular as possible.

Our conversation delves into the entire production process as well as the inherent values that the company has for full corporate transparency and doing things, honestly.

Catherine Schuller is considered a pioneer in the plus size industry having secured a contract with Ford Models, Inc. in the 1980’s, at a time when inclusivity and diversity were not really values, considered by the Fashion Industry.

Catherine curates and creative directs a show during New York Fashion Week called Hitechmoda - Fashion Forward Innovation where she produces one of the four shows called the ReGen Runway which highlights fashion’s new direction featuring apparel in conjunction with her work as an Honorary Adviser for the UN with regards their Sustainable Development Goals.

Something of a change for us with regards this week's episode, as we chat in-depth with the super talented artist, Ian Berry.

Ian has showed his incredibly impressive work at Exhibitions and Installations across the globe and was recognised as being one of the "Top 30 under 30" within the Art World.

Ian scours, thousands of pairs of Jeans to locate the perfect shade of Denim to use in his 'blue based' creations.

Take a listen to understand his ongoing relationship with Denim and how he uses the fabric to depict day to day life and 20th Century culture.

Since 2005 Elvis & Kresse have been rescuing raw materials, transforming them into Luxury lifestyle accessories and donating 50% of profits back to charities.

They learned that London's damaged decommissioned hoses were headed to landfill so Kresse and her husband set up the Elvis & Kresse Brand, in order to save that waste product.

For over a decade, none of London’s fire-hose has gone to landfill and over 200 tons of material has been reclaimed. 🚒

In 2017 the Burberry Foundation partnered with Elvis & Kresse to tackle the even greater global problem of leather waste. This Five-year partnership will see at least 120 tonnes of leather off-cuts from Burberry recrafted into new luxury items, designed and sold by Elvis & Kresse. ♻️
