This week I sat down with Dan Charnas to discuss his 2010 publication "The Big Payback: The History of the Business of Hip-Hop." It exists as one of my favourite books on hip-hop culture, and I know many others share the same view. For those that have read the book, I think this conversation will serve as a good behind the scenes look at what went into it.

The podcast is available on all major platforms including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Amazon Alexa Devices, etc. Give it a like and a follow to get updated when new episodes are live.

For those tuned into Canadian hip-hop, you probably recognize the name Emotionz. As a seminal part of the Vancouver hip-hop scene for decades now, he has had quite the journey. Growing up sharing stages with Macklemore as part of Fourth World Occupantz, signing to Dreamworks, running long-lasting hip-hop nights in Vancouver, battling as an emcee in King of the Dot, to touring the globe. What you probably don't know, is that he has a coffee table book based on his adventures on the way titled "Field Trips." I was lucky enough to get an early draft of the book, and sat down with him recently to discuss the contents.

That said, episode five is live with David Nelson, AKA Emotionz.

As a reminder, the podcast is now available on all major platforms. YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Tunecore via Amazon Alexa devices, etc.
